METAL GEAR SOLID Is Getting A Live-Action Film, And Now Has A Director

Video game movies are still a thing, and Sony is jumping on the bandwagon this week, this time with the attachment of The Kings Of Summer helmer, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts for a live action adaptation of Metal Gear Solid. The film has reportedly been in the works since game director Hideo Kojima’s initial announcement in 2006 and saw a series of ups and downs with several names otherwise rumored for the project, including voice actor, multifaceted filmmaker David Hayter said to be writing the script before those rumors were quelled. Initially released on several Playstation platforms in 1998 courtesy of Konami with more games that followed, Metal Gear Solid tells the story of Snake, a soldier on a stealth mission to rescue two hostages and neutralize a nuclear threat from renegade special forces unit, Foxhound. Watch The New Trailer For HERCULES REBORN!

Because you can never have enough Hercules in your life, The Asylum has itself a new trailer for its own claim on the classic mythological hero in director Nick Lyon’s new action adventure thriller, Hercules Reborn. WWE wrestler-turned-actor John Hennigan (Jumpstart) takes the lead as the titular role in this particular smaller-scale approach compared to its bigger-budget iteration by way of MGM. Still, judging by the trailer, it hits some nice beats here and there. The film was also written by Barrio Brawler helmer Jose Montesinos and arrives on DVD on July 8. SYNOPSIS: When a young man’s bride is kidnapped by an evil king, he turns to Hercules for help. The fallen hero has been living in exile, banished for killing his family, but the young man’s courage inspires Hercules. Together, they fight to rescue the bride and reclaim Hercules’ honor.

This one caught me off guard. Really, it was quite a surprise to see action Mario Van Peebles fall into my line of sight again when I’m sifting through webpages for film info, this time in a new trailer for the upcoming suspense thriller, Submerged. Here, we see Peebles starring opposite actor Jonathan Bennett who plays the last hope for a group of teenagers whose limousine sink following an ambush by masked men. Catch Two Teaser Clips For HIGH KICK ANGELS

The final two-week stretch has begun for the upcoming Japan release of director Yokoyama Kazuhiro‘s new all-girl Karate chick-flick, High Kick Angels. The film opens on June 14, and the film already well into its promotional efforts, having shared several training montages and vines, in addition to a featured clip with actress and martial artist Mayu Kawamoto. Since then, two clips have gone viral with fellow martial arts femme fatale Kanon Miyohara cleaning house, and a new teaser clip this week featuring actress, martial artist and model Kaede Aono trading kicks with actor and karate champion Shingo Koyasu (Dancing Karate Kid). Taiko Kato’ono is another in the latest handful of actors to step into the spotlight for a live-action manga adaptation this summer, with the upcoming release of Gaki Rock. And just in time for June to roll in, the film has earned itself a new trailer which you can check out at the bottom. Based on a 2003/2005 Daitosha publicaton from manga author Daihu Yamaguchi, Gaki Rock centers on Gen, who with the help of his three best friends, win over the heart of a beautiful woman newly headlining his father’s strip club. Trouble ensues when Gen finds himself getting caught up with the Yakuza after rescuing one of its own who fell into debt. Roughly a year and a half since a press release was issued officially announcing New Regency and Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ live-action adaptation of the popular game, Splinter Cell with actor Tom Hardy set to star, the official word has come in confirming Hardy is now working on the script with director Doug Liman. Liman‘s attachment came as of March this year just months away from the forthcoming release of his new sci-fi action adventure, Edge Of Tomorrow. I’m kind of a fan of former Goonie, actor Josh Brolin. No, I haven’t Spike Lee’s version of Oldboy yet, and I will, eventually. But I don’t really feel like he’s gotten his just dues as an actor, although he has earned some approval among filmgoers and film producers on the level, so much so that he was once a named candidate for the role of Bruce Wayne in the then-untitled Batman V. Superman movie.
