Updates on official casting for The Expendables 3 have been a real headline generator, with actor and Sylvester Stallone heading off casting announcements via his twitter. Some of the most recent news about the film included the surprise announcement that actor Harrison Ford was now a part of the official cast, while Bruce Willis had been dropped altogether following his failed request for a $4 million dollar payday for a four-day shoot. Other announcements have already confirmed that Stallone’s Assassins co-star Antonio Banderas will be appearing in the cast, in addition to Machete Kills co-star Mel Gibson who will play the villain. Earlier Saturday morning, I posted a status on Facebook about how I would love to see an original female character come to life in the form of Riddick. Well, considering that the following news doesn’t necessarily deal with an original property, it comes pretty close I guess. Several reports this weekend have been coming through the web indicating that Rob Cohen (The Fast And The Furious, Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story) is bringing 1990’s comic book anti-heroine, Razor, to the big screen. The film is based on the work author and illustrator Everett Hartsoe, who created the character in 1991 upon launching London Night Studios, back in 1992. The news also comes off the heels of a successful kickstarter Hartsoe hosted back in in May to help reboot the character with Jeff Most Productions. Actor Vin Diesel loves to keep in touch with his fans, often teasing and surprising them with cryptic updates about his current happenings in film. We have another red-band clip promoting next week’s upcoming release of Kick-Ass 2, the hot new sequel starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson reprising his role as the urban neighborhood superhero who helps united other vigilantes to team up as the ultimate crimefighting force, Justice Forever. We now have another new international trailer for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence who replaces Gary Ross from the first film released last year. Briefly picking up where The Hunger Games left off, Catching Fire sees actress and X-Men: Days Of Future Past co-star Jennifer Lawrence and actor Josh Hutcherson as the reigning champions of the 74th annual Hunger Games, which takes them on a victory tour through the districts of Panem, where a rebellion continues to brew day by day. Wanna see a cool music video? Then today is your lucky day! Two weeks away from the domestic premiere of Dustin Nguyen‘s upcoming fantasy martial arts adventure, Once Upon A Time In Vietnam (a.k.a. Lua Phat), we now have the official music video featuring Vietnamese rock star, Pham Anh Khoa, performing the title song, Sắc Màu, which loosely translates as “Colour”. The video starts off with small snippets of actress and co-star Veronica Ngo sharing a poignant moment singing a little boy to sleep, with shots switching between her and a scene of Dustin walking at night. Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2 and 12 Rounds director Renny Harlin is lining up post-production on his next hopeful blockbuster, Hercules 3D, starring Kellan Lutz, and also starring Liam McIntyre and Scott Adkins. With all hopes in place for a sequel, Empire got the most recent scoop from the director on what the next hopeful installment would entail. “Our story is the young Hercules, so I would say that the sequel will probably dive into the Labours.” Harlin says. “As you know, in the mythology Hercules ended up killing his wife and children, and as atonement he got the 12 Labours. In a recent interview with Larry King, actor Bill Paxton has confirmed he will be directing a theatrical martial arts western reboot of the classic television series for Legendary East, the Asian branch of film production company, Legendary. The news comes just two years after Deadline announced plans for Paxton to direct the film in October of 2011. Kung Fu originally ran as an ABC television series preceded by the feature-length film. The series ran from 1972 through 1975, and was revived eighteen years later in the form of a spin-off titled Kung Fu: The Legend Continues. All three installations starred actor David Carradine as Kwai Chang Kaine, a shaolin monk whose story is told in the first series as he ventured from his home in the temple through the old West in search of his brother. On Thursday, a surprise report from Film Business Asia writer Kevin Ma has reported that Sil-Metropole Organisation Ltd.’s sequel to the 2005 film, S.P.L. (a.k.a. Sha Po Lang), has been approved by State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT), otherwise known as the Chinese censorship board. International action star and world’s busiest bad guy beater-upper, Donnie Yen, who appeared in the 2005 action hit, has also been attached to star in the film by way of newly-attached Champions and Revenge: A Love Story scribe, Jill Leung Lai-Yin. Martial Arts Movie Junkie has reported via Film Business Asia that Bill Kong is aiming to reboot the story of Chinese kung fu Master Wong Fei-Hung. The film will be titled Rise Of A Legend, offsetting a China/Hong Kong co-production under’s Kong’s banner, Edko Films Ltd., joined by BDI Films Inc. and Irresistible Delta. Film Business Asia also reports that True Legend scribe and Fearless co-writer Christina To-Chi Long is signed to bring the story to life, revamping Rise Of A Legend as a story that will mainly focus its plot on a younger version of the kung fu master. If you are a fan of Asian action films and are familiar with the crowdfunding venue, Indiegogo, you may rememeber actress and filmmaker Maria Tran‘s appearance in the action packed independent martial arts hitwoman comedy, Hit Girls, which also features Hell’s Haunted Palace and Fist Of The Dragon co-star Juju Chan, and co-directed by co-star Adrian Castro. The official Scott Adkins Facebook page has unveiled some new set photos fir the upcoming film, Warg. The film stars Jacky Wu Jing in his latest stint as director, now working with actor and action cinema hero Scott Adkins. No word yet on what the plot of the film will be as it continues production, although we are left with knowing it will be a “comnando” style film. We have a new trailer for the upcoming contained action thriller Extraction. The film is part of a new slate of action movies and web shows set to premiere this fall only on Crackle.com, as per an announcement from the network made at a star-studded conference hosted by NewFronts in New York City earlier this year. The film stars Jon Foo, back in the limelight and back in action in his latest lead role since the martial arts thrillers, Tekken (2011) and Bangkok Revenge (2012). Joining him is actor Falk Hentschel, best known for his role as the train assassin in the James Mangold-directed romantic action comedy adventure, Knight And Day with Tom Cruise.
