THE BOOK OF CLARENCE Announces Production And Cast Details

Filming is underway for The Book of Clarence, the latest from The Harder They Fall helmer Jeymes Samuel. Production was announced on Tuesday with Samuel directing from his own script, as well as producing and scoring. Samuel is rejoined by The Harder They Fall cohorts, LaKeith Stanfield, who stars in the title role and actor RJ Cyler. The film also stars Omar Sy, Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy, Anna Diop, Teyana Taylor, David Oyelowo, Alfre Woodard, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste, along with Caleb McLaughlin, Babs Olusanmokun, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Nicholas Pinnock, Micheal Ward, Chase Dillon, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor. THE ORIGINAL GANGSTER: Get A Look At The New Modern Action Crime Thriller Out Of Malaysia From Director Syamsul Yusof

Currently in production is The Original Gangster which hails from director Syamsul Yusof, best known for his work on the KL Gangster films and his newest period action epic, Mat Kilau: Rise Of The Warriors. The Original Gangster hails from Syamsul Yusof Films and Razor’s Edge Pictures, and is being billed as the most expensive production out of Yusof’s wheelhouse. Plot details are unknown at this point though, while Yusof and the official fanpage for the film on Instagram have already released several stills which you can also view below. The film stars Sharnaaz Ahmad and Aaron Aziz along with Mat Kilau co-star Beto Kusyairy, and even Yusof himself, along with action stalwart Yayan Ruhian among others. MSR Media Producer Philippe Martinez announced today four new films in the company’s film production line-up on Monday, firstly with The Island, directed by Shaun Paul Piccinino (The Lackey, American Fighter), and is currently in post-production. Based on an original story by Philippe Martinez, and scripted by Martinez and Michael Caissie (The Hangman starring Al Pacino), The Island recounts the story of an LAPD officer (Michael Jai White) who takes down drug traffickers with his wisecracking partner Phil (Jackson Rathbone) until his brother dies under mysterious circumstances. KFTV has word that production in London has begun on The Beekeeper, from director David Ayer (Bright, Sabotage) and starring Jason Statham (Fast And Furious Presents: Hobbs And Shaw). The film marks a reunion for the action star with MGM following their previous involvement on Guy Ritchie revenge thriller, Wrath Of Man, with the company acquiring the film for U.S. distribution as of late last month. Ayer directs the film from a script by Kurt Wimmer, which “centres on one man’s campaign for vengeance – a quest that has very high stakes as he is revealed to have been associated with a secretive and powerful organisation known as ‘The Beekeepers’. Pic hails from Ayer’s Cedar Park Entertainment whose Chris Long is producing next to Miramax’s Bill Block, and with Statham also producing.

Cameras began rolling on September 5 according to Variety’s Nick Vivarelli, with a story and screenplay written by co-scribe Stefano Bises (Gomorrah, ZeroZeroZero).
