EL CUERPO EN LLAMAS: Úrsula Corberó and Quim Gutiérrez Head New Netflix Crime Series In Production
Production is already underway in Spain for limited crime series El Cuerpo En Llamas. Cameras began rolling in Barcelona last week with a cast led by Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) and Quim Gutiérrez (Honeymoon with my Mother), along with José Manuel Poga (Money Heist), Isak Férriz (Below Zero) and Eva Llorach (Quién te cantará) among the roster.
May 2017. The charred remains of police officer Pedro (José Manuel Poga) are found inside a burnt-out car at Barcelona’s Foix reservoir. The discovery quickly arouses the public’s interest, especially when the investigation begins to reveal a network of toxic relationships, deceit, violence and sexual scandals involving Pedro and two fellow police officers: his partner Rosa (Úrsula Corberó) and her ex-boyfriend Albert (Quim Gutiérrez).
El Cuerpo En Llamas is directed by Jorge Torregrossa (Fariña, Intimacy), who also serves as exec producer, and Laura Mañá (Un novio para mi mujer) and written by Laura Sarmiento (Intimacy, Matadero). The series is produced by Arcadia Motion Pictures for Netflix and is inspired by real-life events in 2017.
I’m actually excited for this as I just spent the last couple of weeks catching up on Money Heist (a.k.a. La Casa De Papel) on Netflix, which features Corberó and Poga as on-screen enemies between seasons three through five, in a rivalry that ends with a bang if there ever was. I slacked on the series due to lack of time, and I highly recommend it for anyone still new to the show, especially as a precursor to what’s in store for this latest venture for the streamer.
