New TOKYO GHOUL: S Trailer Serves Another Dish Of Action Horror And Intrigue

The latest installment of Shochiku’s manga/anime adapted titles with Tokyo Ghoul: S is finally en route to a July release and with a brand new trailer currently circulating. I still haven’t seen the anime despite my own efforts but if the reception for this entry measures the same as the first one from 2017, then this ought to make for a promising addition to one’s moviegoing collection. Kaneki (Masataka Kubota) who becomes half human and half ghoul (man-eating monsters who are only able to ingest human flesh in order to live) is living at a coffee house called “Anteiku” with fellow ghouls such as Touka (Maika Yamamoto) hiding their identities from the police unit CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul). If a standard short trailer for John Herzfeld’s Escape Plan: The Extractors wasn’t enough, then how about a red-band trailer for all your Stallone and Bautista needs? Both action stars headline the latest and seemingly final installment which unleashes the beast on July 2 on Digital 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital. Screen legend Sylvester Stallone kicks this explosive action tale into high gear. After security expert Ray Breslin (Stallone) is hired to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Hong Kong tech mogul from a formidable Latvian prison, Breslin’s girlfriend (Jaime King) is also captured. JAPAN CUTS XIII: Dance With Me, Killing, Jesus, Night Cruising And More Outline Next Month’s Sprawling New York City Event

Following last week’s announcement of Japanese cinema auteur Shinya Tsukamoto’s centerpiece ceremony for this year’s Japan Cuts, the official line-up is now online from Japan Society along with a robust new trailer. The line-up is ripe with the usual assortment of features host to colorful cinematic stylings from a raft of directors on the feature-length and shortfilm front, as well as Q&A segments with directors. With any luck I’ll get some screening going on my end as there are several titles on this list I would love to check out, including documentary Night Cruising, Tsukamoto’s latest celebrated hit, Killing, and even Samurai Shifters among others. LEVEL UP: Saving The World Is No Game In The Official Trailer For The New Indie Action Sci-Fi

Actor and filmmaker Faustus McGreeves, co-director of 2016 adventure horror, Endor; is already making the retail and festival rounds with his second effort, Level Up. The project signals his solo directorial debut and has since made its mark with a premiere screening in February followed by screenings at Gen Con in Indianapolis, and just recently at Reels of the Dead Film Festival in Las Vegas this past weekend. A suburban couple get caught up in a mission that seems small scale but could prevent a global disaster. On the run from a gaggle of assasins they need to find the codes before it’s too late. It’s a blessing and I’m real thankful to those of you investing in my own YouTube channel to share your craft. The live action cinematic presentation enjoins the filmic feats of directors Kim Tae-yong (Memento Mori, critically acclaimed Late Autumn) and music director Bang Jun-Seok (The Throne, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, Along With The Gods: The Last 49 Days), along with a 20-piece ensemble from the National Gugak Center. The Latest STUBER Trailer Gets The Red-Band Treatment

This is me catching up on some trailerage of late with Michael Dowse’s latest action comedy, Stuber. The latest red-band trailer is making the rounds and I’m actually already sold on this one. Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani look and Iko Uwais look great together and with any luck, the Stuber crew took some notes after Uwais’s previous stint in Mile 22…and no, I’m still not over it. When a mild-mannered Uber driver named Stu (Kumail Nanjiani) picks up a passenger (Dave Bautista) who turns out to be a cop hot on the trail of a brutal killer, he’s thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he desperately tries to hold onto his wits, his life and his five-star rating. COLD BLOOD: Jean Reno Returns To His Chilling Profession In The Official Trailer For The Wintery Hitman Thriller

Following it’s French run in the cinemas last month, Frédéric Petitjean’s feature debut will finally have a North American outing on July 5 with Cold Blood. The title underwent a few changes for a period of time, though headlining actress Sarah Lind with lead actor Jean Reno for a role fans of the actor can relate to may be appealing. Funny though, one of his lines in the trailer is “I’m not used to protecting people…” which felt more like a fondly humorous job at The Professional for a sec there. Also starring are Joe Anderson, David Gyasi, Ihor Ciszkewycz, François Guétary, and Samantha Bond. A legendary hitman (Jean Reno) retires in isolation to the barren North American wilderness. When he rescues a woman from a snowmobile accident, he discovers she may be harboring a secret that could force a return to his lethal ways.

Fret not though, as the film is still on track for release and now with a date slated for September 20, and a stunning, immersive official trailer to compensate. Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos. Gray produces and directs from a script written with Ethan Gross. Also among the producers is the star himself, Brad Pitt, who heads Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland in the cast roster.

Next month will see the first of a two-part endeavor from Toei Video with a cinematic premiere and subseqent live stage show event in the form of Gozen. The former, Gozen: The Sword of Pure Romance, now has an official trailer ahead of a July 5 release and is directed by Hidenori Ishida. GOZEN is a jidageki (period piece) dramas. The word “gozen” refers to a feudal game held in the presence of a Daimyo, described as a match “one must not lose”. As previously reported by Jorge Salas at Tokusatsu Network in January, the trailer comes following a cryptic announcement from producers Hideaki Tsukada and Takahito Omori, best known for their extensive works on the Kamen Rider and Super Sentai franchises. Award-winning director Michael David Charles Hicks just recently unveiled the final trailer for his upcoming short, Eugene vs Humanity. A June release is in tow though no date yet known, and stars Colin James O’Gorman from a script by Hicks, and original music by To Kill A King front man Ralph Pelleymounter. When a misanthrope finds his ever-growing frustration with society too much to bear, his temper boils over, leading him to commit an act of violence. I’ve had my eye on this one since late last year when production announced Pellymounter was scoring this little project. I look forward to sharing this on the Hit List in due time.
