The first official teaser is now streaming online for New World and V.I.P. helmer Park Hoon-jung’s new South Korean crime noir, Night In Paradise. Produced by Goldmoon in association with Peppermint & company, Inc., Night In Paradise tells a story of a man targeted by a criminal organization and a woman on the verge of life and death. The film, starring Um Tae-goo (My Punch-Drunk Boxer), Jeon Yeo-been (Secret Zoo) and Cha Seoung-won (Sinkhole), will launch globally in 190 countries on Netflix beginning April 9, 2021, following its premiere at the 77th La Biennale di Venezia last year where festival director Alberto Barbera hailed it as “One of the best gangster movies coming from South Korean cinema”.

Currently on the heels of its 55th anniversary since birthing the character in the wheelhouse of Tsuburaya Productions, the newest teaser and poster art for Shin Ultraman is here marking the latest update for the franchise. The film hails from Tsuburaya and Toho, and is written by Hideaki Anno who is also producing the pic via his Studio Khara banner following the film’s announcement two years ago, and features none other than actor Takumi Saito (Kiba: The Fangs Of Fiction, Wotakoi: Love Is Hard For Otaku) as the human host for the Ultraman armor in this throwback incarnation to the original. Higuchi and Anno previously paired on Shin Godzilla which, for some, was still hit-or-miss – a hit especially for its adherence to a more practical, stylish presentation akin to its predecessors. ARISAKA: Mikhail Red’s Latest Mingles Action And Thrills With Dark Mystique In The First Teaser

The first official teaser trailer is now out for Mikahil Red’s new action thriller, Arisaka. Variety’s Naman Ramachandran brought the exclusive Sunday evening with a first look at the new pic from the Block Z and Neomanila director, with word of its completion following what Red notes as a challenging shoot, due to Typhoon Vamco last month, on top of restrictions thanks to the onset of the current global pandemic which forced a temporary delay during production. In “Arisaka,” a policewoman must retrace the trail of the Bataan Death March, a forcible transfer of some 60,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war by the Imperial Japanese army during WWII, in order to escape her captors. The film is named after a World War II Japanese bolt-action rifle. With any luck, next year might bode more fortunately for the theatrical experience in the wake of this mortifying pandemic around the world, which, to our delight, hasn’t gotten too much in the way of the creative process for some. This especially goes for director Katsuyuki Motohiro (Ajin: Demi-Human, Laughing Under the Clouds) ahead of his latest, Brave: Gunjyo Senki, based on Masaki Kasahara’s 2013 manga. Toho officially teased the pic on Wednesday, and features Mackenyu Arata (Chihayafuru 1 and 2) as Aoi, a teen archer who, along with his fellow club members and classmates, gets accidently transported back into feudal Japan. Rounding out the cast are Hirona Yamazaki (Killing For The Prosecution) and Kenichi Matsuyama (Miyamoto), and in heartfelt departure, late actor Haruma Miura (The Confidence Man JP 1 & 2, upcoming Tengaramon) in one of his final on screen performances. Heinlen’s 1957 novel of the same name, Fortuna’s Eye helmer Takahiro Miki’s got his sights set on some alluring cerebral sci-fi as teased in the latest footage for next year’s The Door Into Summer. Starring Kento Yamazaki from a script by Time Traveler: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time scribe Tomoe Kanno, Toho and Aniplex are teaming up for the film’s Japan release in February. The news comes following the show’s transition from YouTube Premium to Netflix as of August 28, ultimately climbing its way up to the streamer’s top ten list. Spun-off from John G. Avildsen’s 1984 drama, The Karate Kid, actors William Zabka and Ralph Macchio reprise their roles as Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso, in a story that explores the coming-of-age rivalry among today’s generation of martial arts students when the down-and-out Lawrence reopens the notorious Cobra Kai, imploring LaRusso to respond in turn with the rebirth of Miyagi-Do.
