IN TANDEM: First Look At New Survival Thriller From ‘Dead Money’ Director, Starring Emile Hirsch In Screenwriting Debut
A first look photo is now available for In Tandem, a new survival thriller from director Luc Walpoth (Dead Money, Peripheric Love), and starring Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Milk) and Benjamin Norris (“Abbott Elementary,” “Never Have I Ever”). The image below debuted on Thursday with the film’s slate addition at Ultimate Media Group whose Jason Buckley has come on board to handle international sales rights ahead of AFM next week. WME Independent will handle domestic.
Directed by Walpoth from a script by Hirsch in his screenwriting debut, In Tandem centers on a tumultuous bromance between two estranged high school friends (Hirsch and Norris) with zero real-world climbing experience who attempt to summit a mountain together. As old conflicts emerge mid-adventure, they must survive the wilderness and each other to make it down alive.
The film also features cameo appearances by rock climbing icons Alex Honnold (Academy Award-winning documentary Free Solo, Skyscraper Live) and Brette Harrington (The Alpinist).
Giovanni James Guidotti (That One Beautiful Day, The Bookie & The Bruiser) is producing for Giovanni Entertainment alongside Dwjuan Fox (“The Blackening”) for Decipher Entertainment. Mark Korshak (Incoming) and Jijo Reed (Waltzing with Brando) are exec producers. Giovanni Entertainment fully financed In Tandem which was shot on location in the breathtaking mountains of Oregon and Montana and recently wrapped post production.
In Tandem also marks a reunion for UMG and Giovanni Entertainment, following the global sales launch for Giovanni Entertainment’s production Ping starring Megan Lawless. Jason Buckley/UMG came on board and launched the film at the recent TIFF Market.

Giovanni Entertainment’s current production slate also includes Ramin Bahrani’s romantic thriller Vegas: A Love Story starring Maika Monroe, Brandon Sklenar, Paul Dano and Michael Shannon; the drama That One Beautiful Day starring Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino, Ping starring Megan Lawless, Fivel Stewart, Savanah Moss, Liv Morgan and Carter Jenkins, and S. Craig Zahler’s upcoming film The Bookie and The Bruiser, starring Vince Vaughn, Theo James, and Patrick Schwarzenegger, with Guidotti and Mark Korshak serving as Executive Producers.
Norris is repped by Paradigm Talent Agency and Strig Artist Management; Hirsch is repped by UTA and Stride Management; Walpoth is repped by Source Management and Production. Robert Benun of Benen Law served as production council.
In Tandem will debut screen for at AFM for buyers on Friday, November 13th at 3:30pm at the Century City AMC. Giovanni Entertainment and UMG’s Wrap Party will follow the screening at 8:00pm. Details are available upon request.
