New Announcements For Greg Mandry's SOLDIER GIRLS
You may recall a while back when I first reported about the details made available regarding the on-going pre-production developments of the upcoming film, SOLDIER GIRLS, to be directed by Greg Mandry who is also producing. Well, there is good news and even greater news to announce!
Sasha Jackson signs up for Soldier Girls
Los Angeles, California – 16th April 2013
British actress Sasha Jackson is attached to Greg Mandry’s upcoming “Soldier Girls” movie. Jackson, 24, is set to play the lead role of Corporal Katherine Morgan, joining an ensemble cast already comprising
•Natassia Malthe (Elektra, SkinWalkers, BloodRayne 2:Deliverance, BloodRayne 3: The Blood Reich)
•Gary Daniels (The Expendables, Hunt to Kill, Tekken)
•LeeAnne Libenberg (Doomsday, District 9, Death Race 2)
•Naja Hill (CSI: Miami, Nip/Tuck, Open House )
•Jon Foo (Tekken, Universal Soldier: Regeneration, Vikingdom, Bangkok Dangerous)
•Gianni Capaldi ( Cross, Wicked Within, Blood of Redemption) and
•Vernon Wells (Commando, Mad Max II: The Road Warrior, Inner Space)Sasha’s recent credits include the lead role of American surfer “Dana” in Universal Pictures’ “Blue Crush 2”, which filmed along the coast of South Africa. She has also recently appeared on American and British television in several series: most notably alongside Ted Danson in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and also in “NCIS: Los Angeles”. Sasha made numerous appearances on “One Tree Hill” as British actress and model “Kylie”. She has showcased her comedic abilities as beautiful American “April Campbell” in “’Til Death” with Brad Garrett, in “Rita Rocks” and also in “Happy Endings”.
In 2013 Sasha will be seen starring in “China Bigfoot: Legend of the Yeren” as an American ethno-pharmacologist. This is a totally unique project, being the first fantasy movie to be co-produced by American and Chinese production companies and filmed entirely in the Hubei Province in China.
Director Greg Mandry says of Jackson: “She’s perfect for the role – Sasha has the right mix of toughness and vulnerability that we need to make her character resonate with audiences. For our movie, I can’t overstate how important that balance is: our characters are soldiers, yes, but they’re also women. They will have different motivations and their emotional journey will not be the same as a group of guys embarking on the same mission. Sasha conveys that balance perfectly. We’re thrilled to have her attached to the project.”
Soldier Girls is in the final stages of development and is scheduled to move to pre-production in late 2013.
