The Coronavirus pandemic around the world took a grave toll on a number of film-related prospects this year, but for some folks like director Johnny Balazs, it’s a blessing in disguise. With word of post production on his solo freshman feature, Rage, he’s running its first official trailer with works, and even more intense and engaging storied footage from the dramatic new thriller.
Penned by Michael J. Kospiah, Rage takes off as mild-mannered husband Noah (Matt Theo) is left comatose with wife Madeline (Hayley Beveridge) deeply traumatised following a violent home invasion. The plot thickens when Noah awakens and learns that one of the attackers is still at large, unraveling a twisted tale of brutal revenge just as Bennett (Richard Norton), an afflicted veteran detective, fights his own inner demons whilst trying to solve the case.
The pandemic may have also certainly affected Balazs’s plans for his own action film festival launch this year (exclusively announced with Film Combat Syndicate’s involvement last June), so details are pending on that despite the slow-down. In the meantime, Rage rages on as a crowning achievement for Balazs whose previously awarded shorts like Dancer and Night Shift were just a taste of things to come.
