Speculation continues over whether or not recent signs of a season three will come through for Mortal Kombat fans who have otherwise become fond of Machinima’s online webseries since any quantitative progress on a feature film remains to be seen. As such, given we have a new game on the way next year with a batch of hot new characters, I could see how some changes would likely need to be made if writer/director Kevin Tancharoen and screenwriter Oren Uziel so chose, but again, nothing is yet known since Tancharoen unceremoniously left the Mortal Kombat frey and mysteriously popped up earlier this year. It really is all just a mystery, and one that awaits solving as we approach a hopeful official announcement. It’s the latest cinematic return to bible lore in the new trailer for director Ridley Scott‘s upcoming sword-and-sandals epic, Exodus: Gods And Kings. Actor Christian Bale takes the lead in the revamp of the classic tale of biblical hero Moses and brother, Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, played by Joel Edgerton. And to be frank here, I can’t really write this without avoiding the obvious elephant in the room, being that the film features a principal cast of white actors as Africans and this is neither the first or the last time this sort of thing will happen (obviously), and it is annoying. Independent filmmaker and Flatcoin Productions founder Ulrik Bruchholz has a vision in mind, with German martial artist and actor Mathis Landwehr (Kampfansage: Der Letzte Schüler, Lasko) at the center of it all in the hardcore, violently epic new shortfilm, Hard Boiled Cop. The project took roughly two-and-a-half years to evolve as earlier concepts were developing, and the project is finally getting its day in the sun sometime between now and during August. So, needless to say, the wait continues. A sequel to last year’s modest blockbuster success story, Pacific Rim, has been in development for a while now. It wasn’t going to happen right away since earning only a little over half its budget back, but I suppose grossing that same number four times over globally was pretty helpful. But most importantly, director Guillermo Del Toro wanted to do it, and so did Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.
