ACTS OF VENGENACE: Antonio Banderas Narrates Silent, Brutal Redress In The First Trailer For Isaac Florentine’s Revenge Thriller
He’s built up to 27 film and television directing credits to his name in all of thirty years as one of the foremost leading filmmakers in the action genre. Most recently, more prolific efforts there have been a string of genre titles and faves like the Undisputed sequels, Ninja movies and Close Range all headlined by actor Scott Adkins whose career took a greater turn eventually appearing in Scott Derrickson’s Marvel adventure, Doctor Strange.
Nowadays and in the wake of a brief producing stint with Todor Chapkanov’s direct-to-video tournament martial arts action hit, Boyka: Undisputed, Florentine’s time in the director’s chair now furthers him some more long-awaited growth into the mainstream. This time, he’s got actor Antonio Banderas (The Expendables 3) taking the mantle and bringing his seasoned gravitas for a role peppered and spiced with heavy, meaty fight action from choreographer Tim Man (Boyka: Undisputed, Ninja: Shadow Of A Tear) with the new movie, Acts Of Vengeance.
Saban recently acquired the rights to the film which has Banderas in the role of a slick-talking lawyer who undergoes a physical transformation and a takes a vow of silence until he finds those responsible for the death of his wife and child. Florentine himself also makes an appearance in this one with a principal cast that has actress Paz Vega and Thor: Ragnarok actor Karl Urban also starring.
Remarkably, a first trailer is now available online and I wouldn’t be suprised if it were pulled until a release date was officially made public. Otherwise, I’m sharing it here so you can check it out for yourself. Peep it!

BLACK BUTTERFLY Flutters With Chilling Resolve In The New Trailer
Antonio Banderas is already on my radar for a few movies this year but Brian Goodman’s latest caught me by surprise. The new film, Black Butterfly, revised from Christian Faure’s 2008 award-winning TV movie predecessor joins Banderas with Jonathan Rhys Meyers and actress Piper Perabo for a limited theatrical release on May 26 from Lionsgate Premiere.
SYNOPSIS:
Outside a mountain town grappling with a series of abductions and murders, Paul (Antonio Banderas), a reclusive writer, struggles to start what he hopes will be a career-saving screenplay. After a tense encounter at a diner with a drifter named Jack (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), Paul offers Jack a place to stay – and soon the edgy, demanding Jack muscles his way into Paul’s work. As a storm cuts off power to the isolated cabin, the two men begin a jagged game of one-upmanship that will bring at least one tale to an end.
Marc Frydman and Justin Stanley wrote the script. Watch the trailer now!
SP International Deals China Co-Prods For THE EXPENDABLES 4 And SECURITY
Producer Steven Paul made a significant showing this year while on hand at Cannes with deals pertaining to forthcoming China co-productions, High Speed and an upcoming Tekken remake to name a few. This week he’s back in the headlines with word on two new titles now well on the way from Nu Image/Millenium.
Variety reports that director Alain Desrochers’s $15 million dollar action thriller, Security, and the currently-developing fourth installment of The Expendables have equity backing as China co-productions following deals made on behalf by Paul’s SP International Pictures made on behalf of SSXH Beijing and Max Screen Film Distribution. Security has reportedly begun principal photography in Bulgaria with Antonio Banderas and Ben Kingsley starring, though plot, date and other cast info details currently remain unknown. Meanwhile, cast and crew info remain pending for The Expendables 4, following a five-year franchise that took off in 2010 with its third banking significantly larger in China, but will begin shooting next year for a 2017 release with a reported budget of up to $100 million dollars.
Shanghai Kuailu Investment Group’s Dr. Shi Jianxiang who owns SSXH and Max Screen will executive produce with Paul while both films are expected to film, in part, China.
Stay tuned for more info.
