iBOY: A Shooting Victim Gets A Sick Sci-Fi Upgrade In The Official Trailer
Author Kevin Brooks’s 2010 novel, iBoy, is the latest bit of fantasy fare now making headlines with the upcoming release of its feature film adaptation. The official trailer went live this week introducing the concept of what happens when a boy who gets shot in the head while on the phone after witnessing a crime, handled by none other than Level Up helmer Adam Randall and much to our delight, it looks like terrific way to spend your upcoming Friday night.
SYNOPSIS:
Tom is an average teenager whose world is turned on its head when a violent encounter with local thugs leaves fragments of his shattered smartphone embedded in his brain. He wakes from a coma to discover that returning to normal teenage life is impossible because he has developed a strange set of superpowers. With these new powers he sets out to seek revenge on the gang, who also assaulted his best friend Lucy.
Bill Milner leads the film along with Maisie Williams, Miranda Richardson and Rory Kinnear with a script by Joe Barton. The film is slated for a Netflix Original release on January 27.

Nic Mathieu’s Sci-Fi Action Thriller, SPECTRAL, Gets A Netflix Release In December
One film we might all be able to look forward to this holiday season is the new sci-fi action thriller, Spectral, which was reportedly aiming for a theatrical release this summer that never came through. Instead, the film is heading to Netflix with a premiere date set for December 9 Legendary Pictures according to a new report this week at Deadline.
Nic Mathieu, making his feature debut at the helm, storied with Ian Fried followed by scriptwork from George Nolfi which sees a DARPA scientist escorted into a battle-scarred, war-torn city by a Special Ops team of Delta Force where they end up facing off with mysterious phantom aggressors who’ve been the cause of a series of inexplicable deaths. James Badge Dale, Emily Mortimer and Bruce Greenwood star.
Jillian Share produced the film for its shoot in and around Budapest, Hungary, with Peter Jackson’s Weta Workshop and Weta Digital providing the respective on-set futuristic weapons and visual effects, the latter courtesy of Oscar winners Joe Letteri and Erik Winquist. Deadpool and Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice music maestro Junkie XL is scoring.

Nonetheless, Trekkies alike have surfaced in lieu of the upcoming big screen release of Star Trek: Beyond with new life taking shape once again on the small screen, in addition to the network’s exclusive CBS All Access digital and VoD platform.
