The weekend has proven quite eventful with the news Netflix is making these days. The past few years have benefitted them greatly with the respective first seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones with at least three shows in tow before word broke of Jon Bernthal’s return for his own Punisher spin-off gig on Saturday. Netflix If you’re looking forward to more the Netflix/Marvel universe has to offer between now and next year, the season two premiere of Daredevil is just a few months away with a March 18 date stamped. By then, you’ll be introduced to actor Jon Bernthal in the role of the Punisher among a roster of other seedy characters actor Charlie Cox will be facing. That said, news of a Punisher series has been circling around quietly online for about a year now, but now it appears that Marvel is confirming the development of a Punisher spin-off with Bernthal likely to star. I have a few friends to thank on my end for helping me be accessible to Netflix when needed, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to muse as much as I do about certain shows and films. I’ve only recently taken notice of the first few episodes of the Netflix original series, Marco Polo starring Lorenzo Richelmy. Granted many of you already have, otherwise Netflix probably wouldn’t have ordered an upcoming special central to co-star Tom Wu’s character later this month, much less a second season as they did back in January. Netflix Series, IRON FIST Gets A Showrunner And Synopsis!

At least one major key in getting a television series off the ground is acquiring a showrunner. That said, further quelling rumors about the earlier announced Netflix series, Iron Fist and its so-called cancellation is a new announcement from Marvel that Scott Buck will lead point as showrunner for Netflix’s fourth entry into its Marvel programming. There’s no word yet on who will star in the series but it isn’t like Marvel will run out of options anytime soon. In the meantime, the show’s precursors are still running high with Jessica Jones just airing as of November with Luke Cage currently in production, and season two of Daredevil well on the way to premiere next year long before Iron Fist and the subsequent ensemble series, The Defenders. Netflix's DAREDEVIL And JESSICA JONES: A Convoluted Saga That Keeps You Curious

My weekend got pretty serious making my personal Netflix binge-watching debut with two Marvel series titles. Daredevil premiered back in April and just this weekend followed by this week’s opening of Jessica Jones, both inspired by Marvel and sharing the same universal space as the current theatrical branch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Both Daredevil and Jessica Jones, respectively portrayed in their title performances by Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter, share distinct qualities that keep them both tonally seperate while very much relevant to each other. They both share a unique blend of action with a dash of romance, crime and legal drama while the latter carries more of a sexy noir tone that pushes the envelope in way the former doesn’t. Netflix’s latest big play in the Marvel film and entertainment milleu ostensibly comes with suspicion surrounding whether or not one other superhero may even make it to series. THE SEVEN DEADLY SINS Gets A Full Trailer Ahead Of Its Netflix Premiere

With Netflix as the dominating force for nearly all things entertaining as of late, the new trailer is now online for the new animated series, The Seven Deadly Sins. The show comes following its established roots in Kodansha manga lore courtesy of author Suzuki Nabaka, here and now from producers at Japanese animation studio A-1 Pictures Inc. When a kingdom is taken over by tyrants, the deposed princess begins a quest to find a disbanded group of evil knights to help take back her realm. Having sold 15 million copies of its literary prints is a pretty awesome achievement in and of itself next to its animated run overseas last year, and judging by the footage, it’s easy to see why. Netflix’s new series, Daredevil, is just days away from its upcomimg premiere and it’s already receiving high marks from critics, which is quite telling. Sure, it’s not exactly a big screen event like the titles in its theatrical arm, but this may turn out to be a better proven platform to accommodate the overall shift in tone when it comes to the look, the story and the action also adds to the gratification of knowing that much like 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, not every Marvel property has to be a family-friendly rehash, and it’s okay to get down and dirty, which is exactly the feeling given in all the trailers so far.
