Some exclusive coverage over at The Hollywood Reporter has some details largely pertaining to the recovering relationship action star Jackie Chan is working on with his son, Jaycee, following the younger Chan’s six-month stint in jail over drugs last year. In the meantime, the article gave brief mention to the currently-developing sequel to the recent reboot of The Karate Kid starring Chan with Jaden Smith in the title role. It took a little bit more time to bring some veracity to the latest photos news regarding the current prodiction of action star Jackie Chan‘s new epic, Dragon Blade, which just wrapped filming at Hengdian World Studios and will continue shooting in parts of the Gobi Desert this week. On Sunday, long after previous reports mentioning actors John Cusack and Adrien Brody joining the cast, official news arrived via industry site Variety formally announcing the actors who, based on a story by Chan, will respectively play Lucius, a Roman general who leads a legion of soldiers into China and escapes treachery at the hands of power-hungry warlord Tiberius. Opposite Brody, Cusack joins Chan who will play a fallen Han Dynasty commander who escapes enslavement as the two embark on a journey to protect China’s borders and sovereignty. It appears there is much ado about a lot of things that are worthy of mention for the international action superstar who is currently on the way with the production of director Sam Fell’s new film, Skiptrace, as well as Daniel Lee’s period actioner, Dragon Blade with co-star Mel Gibson, helmer Breck Eisner’s forthcoming sequel to The Karate Kid, a third Kung Fu Panda by next Winter and a yet-to-be-confirmed fourth Rush Hour movie just itching to be made official. Today, international martial arts action star Jackie Chan celebrated his 60th birthday to the delight of adoring lifelong fans around the world. For some, today also marks a special treat for those who enjoyed Chan‘s role as Mr. Han, director Harold Zwart’s iteration of late actor Pat Morita’s role as Mr. Miyagi in the 2010 hit film, The Karate Kid, based on the 1984 original film of the same name. On Monday, it was made public that Sahara and The Crazies helmer Breck Eisner would helm the long-awaited sequel for Sony Pictures which would see actor Jaden Smith reprising his role as the character Dre Parker alongside Chan, and possibly actress Taraji P.
