Tony Schiena To Battle Underworld Sex Trafficking In The Upcoming Production Of DARC
Film producer and former Steven Seagal cohort Julius R. Nasso is looking to step back into the martial arts film foray once more with the forthcoming production of Darc, a new thriller to be directed by Damian Lee with actor and former Karate champion and multi-award-winning martial artist Tony Schiena starring. News of the production comes just sixteen years after Nasso met Schiena in London, where the actor also ran his own international security agency. Quoted in a new interview at the LA Times, Nasso says of Schiena, “I met martial artists all over the world during my tenure with Seagal. He’s the real McCoy. He’s got the credentials.”.
Set for a budget of ten million dollars, the screenplay was written by Schiena and based on his personal fight against sex trafficking. To date, Schiena‘s extensive resume includes him as, among other things, a highly decorated, multifaceted liason to law enforcement officials and leaders of various international crimefighting organizations, hosting seminars on unarmed combat and counterterrorism. “I can draw from so much of what I’ve done,” says the actor. “It’ll definitely translate into the movie.”. Nasso is best known for his lucrative collaborations with Seagal on several major Hollywood productions including Marked For Death, Out For Justice, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory and On Deadly Ground, before the producer was arrested in 2002 on federal charges of extortion. Nasso reportedly won a settlement from Seagal in 2008 after nearly serving a year in jail.
Schiena‘s most notable credits include recently starring in director Daniel Zirilli’s 2010 films, Locked Down with actor Vinnie Jones, and MMA thriller Circle Of Pain with an appearance by Kimbo Slice, as well as the 2004 direct-to-video action thriller, Wake Of Death starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Production on Darc is set to begin this summer.

Help Crowdfund Season Two Of Online Hit Action Webseries, BLACK!
If you happen to be a fan of cinematic military-style action, combat, suspense and drama, then unless you’ve heard of independent filmmaker and series creator Frank T. Ziede‘s new webseries, Black, you may want to pay attention. Last year’s successful crowdfunding and delivery of the first season for Ziede‘s new action series about a covert-ops team created in response to domestic terrorism, has earned fanwide approval of a second season with new and returning cast members led by actor and former Navy Seal veteran Mikal Vega. And as a result, the bar is now being raised for more action, longer episodes and all the necessary trimmings to further expand the scope of the Black universe.
About a month after the first season began airing last year, Film Combat Syndicate spoke to Ziede during an e-mail interview in which the director offered a little bit of insight on what fans could expect if the first season took off. “Our next chapter for the BLACK team focuses on the idea of cyber terrorism mixed with some hardcore mercenaries as Carnahan’s (Mikal Vega) next enemies.”, he says. “We’d like to kick things up a few notches, of course and have some larger set pieces and more advanced shots. We hope our audience wants to see what we can do next.”.
And with this, the director has a new Kickstarter campaign already up and running that promises big perks, and even more bigger bang for every buck you donate. To get an idea of what the series entails, watch the teaser for the first season in the following embed, and visit the official Kickstarter campaign where you can learn all you need to know on how to support this spectacular new series.

Danger Comes From All Directions In The New Poster For THE RAID 2!
Writer and director Gareth Evans‘ new epic action thriller, The Raid 2, has already become a hit among critics since its debut at the Sundace Film Festival two months ago. And with screenings between last month and other early March events preceding the film’s wide release beginning March 28, the film has already garnered its fair share of poster art, including a New Zealand/Australian and an Indonesian print. Alas, with the film’s push in other markets, there are more to come, and thus Entertainment Weekly forwarded an exclusive look at the latest poster for the film being heralded as one of the greatest action movies ever made.
Check it out:
The Raid 2 follows up the events of the first film with a largely new cast of killers, gangsters to comprise Jakarta’s seedy underworld of criminal activity with Indonesian action sensation Iko Uwais as the rookie cop forced to walk the fine line between the law and the lawless in order to protect his family and root out the corruption in his police force. The film will also serve as an interquel for the next film as per Evans‘ original plan for a trilogy, so keep your eyes peeled everyone. The story is far from over!
Uwais stars with Tio Pakusadewo, Arifin Putra, Kenichi Endo, Oka Antara and Alex Abbad with Julie Estelle, Cecep Arif Rahman and returning actors Donny Alamsyah and Yayan Ruhian.
SYNOPSIS:
He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. He couldn’t have been more wrong.
Formidable though they may have been, Rama’s opponents in that fateful building were nothing more than small fish swimming in a pond much larger than he ever dreamed possible. And his triumph over the small fry has attracted the attention of the predators farther up the food chain. His family at risk, Rama has only one choice to protect his infant son and wife: He must go undercover to enter the criminal underworld himself and climb through the hierarchy of competing forces until it leads him to the corrupt politicians and police pulling the strings at the top of the heap.
And so Rama begins a new odyssey of violence, a journey that will force him to set aside his own life and history and take on a new identity as the violent offender “Yuda.” In prison he must gain the confidence of Uco – the son of a prominent gang kingpin – to join the gang himself, laying his own life on the line in a desperate all-or-nothing gambit to bring the whole rotten enterprise to an end.

Martial Arts And Evil Spirits Collide In Peter Cornwell's Upcoming Thriller, MINION
Fans of horror movies like the 2009 feature thriller, The Haunting In Connecticut may already be familiar with the directorial style of award-winning filmmaker Peter Cornwell, who has another title headed our way in the form of Mercy to further appease the horror film viewing public. However, if you enjoy the genre with a nice little martial arts twist, then screenwriters Eric Gable and Ben Bostik may have something in store for those interested with the planned production of Cornwell‘s latest film, Minion.
The film centers on a supernatural event that takes place during a farewell party for a martial arts coach when a party game reveals he is possessed, forcing the guests to fight for their lives as they undergo a reverse exorcism ritual as their only chance of victory against the forces of evil. The news came on the heels of this year’s European Film Market in Berlin in an article via Screen Daily that broke the news two weeks ago where Cornwell said the following: “What appeals to me about Minion is that it’s a really original genre-bending horror story with great characters, really dark twists and some off the hook action,”.
“I have worked together with Peter, Eric and Christian on different projects,” says producer Gudrun Giddings who also produced the 2012 Nordic fantasy horror thriller, Thale. “It’s a pleasure teaming up with these talented and great friends again and I cannot wait for the audience to view the never-before-seen martial-arts action in this horror film.”.
Giddings joins Christian Arnold-Beutel, with whom they both share producer credits in the 2011 crime comedy, Flypaper, and the late 2013 thriller, Banshee Chapter. Arnold-Beutel also produced the 2013 parkour thriller, Run, the 2011 medieval action flick, Ironclad, and Gordon Chan’s 2010 live action adaptation of The King Of Fighters.
The film also brings back Cornwell and Gable since the release of their latest online short fan film, Batman: Evolution in which Gable stars as the lead. The shortfilm has since gone viral, earning the praises of the Dark Knight’s beloved fans, and does offer some perspective as to how Cornwell absorbs martial arts action for the camera as we wait to learn more about Minion in the coming months regarding who will star, as well as direct the action.
