BFI, Warner Bros. To Re-Release BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT In U.K. Theaters. Watch The Trailer!
Wishing actor Harrison Ford a speedy recovery following the crash of his single-engine plane last week from which his injuries have been deemed non-life threatening, hopefully this won’t diminish his recently-announced involvement on, among other things a long-awaited sequel to the 1982 sci-fi noir cult classic, Blade Runner. In lieu of this and with the approval of director Ridley Scott, Warner Bros., the British Film Institute and the Blade Runner Partnership have commissioned a trailer for the 2007 ‘Final Cut’ version ahead of it’s theatrical release in the U.K. set for April 3, which you can now watch below, courtesy of Ignition Creative London.
Evan Daugherty To Pen TOMB RAIDER Reboot For Warner Bros.
It’s been close to fourteen years since Paramount Pictures introduced the filmgoing world to a live-action iteration of Lara Croft a la actress Angelina Jolie based on Square Enix’s popular Tomb Raider game franchise. The film did well for itself while its sequel didn’t perform equally at the box-office and that’s so far been the history of the franchise until 2011 when GK Films’s own, producer Graham King acquired the rights with MGM announcing their partneship for a theatrical reboot.
This week, the film is reportedly on the fast track according to Deadline so we could be hearing some pretty cool casting news soon enough. In the meantime, Snow White And The Huntsman, Divergent and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scribe Evan Daugherty has been tapped to pen the script. Acclaimed writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (Children of Men, Iron Man) completed their own version of a Tomb Raider film several years ago as production was expected to start sooner, whereas King himself described the plot as more of a “character story” featuring a younger Lara Croft with lots of action.
Ultimately, Daugherty’s addition means some changes will be made to fit the narrative, so any hopes of looking into earlier names like Hayley Atwell (Agent Carter), Olivia Wilde (Cowboys And Aliens) and Sharni Vinson (You’re Next), may be moot at the moment. Nothing is quite clear yet as to how they plan to tell the story here so it’s all basically speculative as far as this film is concerned; If you’re curious about what Vinson herself said a few years ago about her interests in the role, click here. Otherwise, stay tuned for more info.
WB's Live-Action ROBOTECH Is Back From Limbo, Andy Muschetti Sought To Direct
Aside from all the Transformers and Pacific Rim fanfare with live-action Patlabor plans taking effect in Japan, at least one other giant robot movie vehicle has been in the works for sometime now. 1985 was the year that Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Productions saw the release of the animated epic science fiction action adventure series, Robotech, recycled from three earlier Japanese animated properties and distributed to the U.S. as a unique little series of its own.
Cary Tagawa Will Return As Shang Tsung For The New MORTAL KOMBAT Series
Machinima’s release of the hit webseries, Mortal Kombat Legacy is gearing up for a brand new season filming this month in Los Angeles by way of Warner Bros.’s digital production arm, Blue Ribbon Content. We already have an idea about who will be appearing while an official listing has yet to be made public, although every little bit of news that trickles does help.
That being said, expect actor Cary Tagawa to tweeted his return in the role of aging Outworld sorceror Shang Tsung starting next week on Monday. Tsung emerged briefly in then-director Kevin Tancharoen’s first of two by way of actor Jonathan Phan in the third episode while Tagawa followed suit in season two, reprising a refurbished version of his iconic role from the 1995 feature film adaptation of the original game by Midway.
It is not yet clearly known how the third season will depict its story, although seasoned Hollywood stunt coordinator Garrett Warren (Mortal Kombat Legacy: Season 2, Divergent) is currently taking the helm as per a recent Los Angeles casting call which gave a few clues. Actors Casper Van Dien and Mark Dacascos have confirmed via social media to jump back in the arena for their respective roles as Johnny Cage and Kung Lao, with further updates needed on who else will star, including who will replace S1 and 2 cast member, actor Ian Anthony Dale for the role of vengeful undead ninja, Scorpion.
More to come!

MORTAL KOMBAT CONQUEST Comes To DVD In 2015!

WONDER WOMAN Gets Michelle MacLaren To Direct!
Without further delay, word from The Hollywood Reporter announced that Michelle MacLaren has officially signed on to direct the forthcoming Wonder Woman feature film, based on the original comic book superheroine created in 1941. MacLaren‘s attachment comes just a month after it was stated that a female director was being sought after for the film, for which actress Gal Gadot was formally brought on to star in the title role almost a year ago. The film would mark the first of a trilogy to fit somewhere in between the latter four years of the current WB/DCU schedule with Wonder Woman set to release on June 23, 2017.
It’s high time though, what with all the progress made by Marvel in its line-up and the online banter and criticisms regarding how slow Warner Bros. has been to bring its DC Cinematic Universe to full fruition. The popular Amazonian demigod has endured through the ages on paper, through television with actress Lynda Carter famously portraying the role in 1975, as well as a number of animated appearances prior to the failure of television networks, the CW and NBC to get their own shows off the ground. So it was a bit of a breath of fresh air to see Warner Bros. finally take the property seriously with their announcement late last year after stating how difficult it would be before then…
Oh how times change!
MacLaren‘s is in great straits with notable television credits like AMC’s Breaking Bad and its forthcoming spin-off series, Better Call Saul to name a few. Her name came as one of a few to make the internet rounds along with Green Street and Punisher: War Zone helmer Lexi Alexander who shared her own reluctance this month to direct the film, largely citing pressure due to carrying the weight and responsibility of gender equality between male and female-led superhero movies. It’s a noteworthy subject in my own opinion, although it does feel a little self-defeating.
At any rate, its probably a relief Alexander didn’t take the job lest she crack midway through filming or something like that; Hopefully her cult success will grant her something special to work with and bring something to movie lovers. As for MacLaren, well, it appears we finally have someone willing to take the job head on, which is all we can ask for at this point, other than they not screw this up.
Charles Roven and Zack and Deborah Snyder producing the film with MacLaren developing the script with a team of currently-unnamed writers. Wonder Woman will arrive just over a year after Gadot debuts her character in Zack Snyder’s March 25, 2016 release of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Warner Bros. Officially Announces Untitled Third Season Of MORTAL KOMBAT
As much as many of us still may want a Mortal Kombat movie, it doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon (I desperately want to be proven wrong). However, it looks like Warner Bros. is planning another live-action webseries as part of a new slate of projects courtesy of WB’s digital production branch, Blue Ribbon Content.
The series is untitled, but is currently poised for an April 2015 airing in sync with the release of Mortal Kombat X, the newest game from WB and Netherealm Studios. Much ado has been said about a possible third season following an initial report earlier this year with surprise statements from once-former series director, Kevin Tancharoen. “With Legacy Season 1, it was kind of a big experiment.” said Tancharoen in acknowledging how a new season would be approached in comparison to the first two seasons. “No one has done it before, and we didn’t know if should be an anthology or connected. We did the first one as an anthology and the second one more serialized. In the future, it will definitely be more connected and more cohesive… We all feel right now that we have such a trajectory to the series. There are so many more stories to tell in that format.”
Tancharoen was previously tied to direct a feature-length reboot for Warner Bros. after his 2010 short, Mortal Kombat Rebirth, leaked online, and to much avail from fans and even Warner executives. From there the hit webseries, Mortal Kombat Legacy took off with two hit seasons while hosted on YouTube by online platform, Machinima before the director shocked fans with a tweet late last year, separating himself from all things Mortal Kombat. After Tancharoen‘s statements, at least one actor who starred in the series, Casper Van Dien who played Johnny Cage in season two, began posting a few notable pictures on social media last month openly hinting at the likelihood of a third season.
For what it’s worth, all things here appear to be shaping up pretty well and we might even get Tancharoen back in the director’s chair. Besides, anyone who hates cliffhangers and loves Mortal Kombat would undoubtedly be curious to see just what the exact f*ck happened after that tease of a season two finale… I know I am, especially with the new series aiming to bring back some of the old characters, as well as new ones – a move that could finally grant us some proper action sequences with a cybernetically enhanced Michael Jai White in the role of Jax Briggs, and a red-eyed killer Kano played previously by Darren Shahlavi, (both who starred in the first season) to name a few.
Tancharoen has otherwise been busy working on a number of short film projects this year, and even putting in somework on the latest season of ABC’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Details are still pending on the director’s upcoming holiday crime thriller, The Guns Of Christmas Past for Voltage Pictures, and maybe even (with the good graces of our movie overlords at Warner Bros.), the Mortal Kombat movie written by Tancharoen and Men In Black 3 scribe Oren Uziel which we were once promised. “…Crazy fatalities and surprise characters with a hard R-rating for sure!…” said series fight choreographer Larnell Stovall when asked earlier this month about his aspirations for feature film treatment. “…I truly hope Warner Bros and New Line make it happen, whether I am involved or not. I simply just want to see these characters on the big screen. They deserve it!!”

MORTAL KOMBAT LEGACY: SEASON 2 Gets A Home Release Date!
In the beginning, the universe and its realms were in harmony, but even gods are not immune to power and greed. This balance was soon thrown into discord. The power-hungry gods challenged each other over the fates of their respective realms. They battled to the death in tournaments alongside mortal champions chosen from each realm. For millennia, Shao Kahn — the Emperor of Outworld — has successfully expanded his domain by defeating other realms. Edenia was the last realm to lose the tournament and fall to Shao Kahn. Ten years ago in the last tournament, Outworld and Earth-realm’s warriors clashed, and Liu Kang emerged victorious. Earth-realm was spared. But now Shao Kahn’s challenge has come again, and a new war is about to commence. The fate of Earth-realm and its inhabitants rests upon the outcome of this tournament. Let the kombat begin.
That Yet-To-Be-Titled 'Batman vs. Superman' Movie Finally Gets A Title And Fresh New Logo!
Principal photography will take place on location at Michigan Motion Picture Studios and on location in and around Detroit, Michigan; Illinois; Africa; and the South Pacific.
The JUSTICE LEAGUE Is Coming!
Well, it’s official. Director Zack Snyder is putting his best foot forward with DC and Warner Bros. for a Justice League film that will follow the long awaited release of the Man Of Steel 2/Batman vs. Superman movie which is still awaiting an official title. The news just broke late in the weekend following previous reports of the second film’s push back from its initial July 17, 2015 date so that Snyder and the other filmmaker could fully realize their vision.
Casting announcements are still in constant flux, with official updates still needed regarding just how actors Jason Momoa, Matt Damon or Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson will be involved in Warner Bros. growing DC film series. In addition, there is also the issue of what will happen with other characters like Green Lantern and Flash, the latter who is currently poised for a standalone television series on the CW later this year starring Gustin Grant.
Rest assured, Warner Bros. and DC are awake to what is happening now with Walt Disney Co. and Marvel cinematic universe, in accordance with its current ABC series, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. and its forthcoming programs for Netflix. And with San Diego Comic-Con on the way, fans can expect some HUGE surprises to come. In the meantime, Snyder’s next film is already set to start principal photography this summer in Michigan where hundreds reportedly lined up for an extras’ casting call.
Batman vs. Superman will see the return of Henry Cavill after leading last year’s Man Of Steel, with actresses Amy Adams and Diane Lane, and actor Lawrence Fishburne expected to reprise their roles as Lois Lane, Martha Kent and Perry White, respectively. New on the roster is actor Ben Affleck in the role of Batman, with Gal Gadot attached to the first of a previously-reported three-film deal as Wonder Woman with a standalone movie still in development. Actors Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons will portray Lex Luthor and Alfred Pennyworth, respectively; Currently rounding out the cast are actresses Holly Hunter and Tao Okamoto, and actor Callan Mulvey, in addition to the recently announced role of Cyborg to be played by actor Ray Fisher.
Both films will be shot back to back, with Batman vs Superman heading into theaters on May 6, 2016 against Captain America 3. Justice League still has no official release date.

Prepare Yourself For A New Season Of MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY
Since the leak of the shortfilm, Mortal Kombat: Rebirth in 2010, Tancharoen has gained distinct notoriety for his creative and unique vision for the film franchise founded on Midway’s initial arcade game release in 1992, Mortal Kombat, created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. With a long series of follow-up games, the feature release of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, a comic book debut, a cartoon and the broadcast of the television series, Mortal Kombat: Conquest among other things, the fighting game most known for its brutal special moves and x-ray combos, bloody, bloody fatalities, hidden codes, wacky friendships and babalities, and sequences that tested your might for close to twenty years, has earned immense popularity among gamers and film fans alike, with even long-waited expectations for a third film that never happened to due a series of slow downs that includes the tragedy and devastation left behind by Hurricane Katrina, and a now-dismissed lawsuit between Warner Brothers and Threshold Entertainment.
