Dylan O'Brien Is A Soldier Of Vengeance In A First Look Photo For Michael Cuesta's AMERICAN ASSASSIN

Actor Dylan O’Brien is back on his feet following a bad spill on the set of Wes Ball’s Maze Runner: The Death Cure back in April, which forced a halt on the production. That film is set to recommence in February for 20th Century Fox while the actor pivots to director Michael Cuesta’s latest, American Assassin from CBS Films and Lionsgate, to which O’Brien was cast in May. Stephen Schiff adapted the script from Vincent Flynn’s 2010 novel – an origin story among the fourteen books that focuses the main character, CIA black ops recruit Mitch Rapp and his endeavors. Off the heels of a rousing debut at TIFF, Deadline reported Wolf Creek 1 and 2 helmer Greg McLean’s The Belko Experiment was the first to land a deal over the weekend. Orion will be releasing the film in association with Blumhouse’s BH Tilt for the film’s U.S. release on March 17, 2017. Take A Gander At The Midnight Madness Premiere Of HEADSHOT With The Cast And Crew!

For some like myself, the weekend was really nothing more than that. For others, however, particularly for folks attending TIFF’s Midnight Madness line-up world premiere of the new movie, Headshot, the past seventy-two hours have been nothing short of bustling. Reviews (such as ours) now making the rounds are showing of a large voice of support for the film directed by Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel and starring Iko Uwais as an amnesiac forced to face his violent past and protect his future. It’s a tricky thing trying to cast a martial artist for a major role in a movie. It’s the kind of thing you don’t take lightly and it depends on what kind of film you’re going for to help execute your vision, and there definitely is one here in Jon Mark Nail’s latest feature effort, Eyes Of The Roshi. Is it the vision you would expect? Well, again, that’s entirely up to you, although there are critiques worth noting should you choose to look this title up when it’s released. We’re a ways from anything Avatar right now, so I reckon something a little more grounded will make for a nice change of pace. It’s the new film, The Hunter’s Prayer, announced in 2014 and now the latest prospect of Saban Films with events now underway at TIFF in Toronto this week. Read on! Things are looking lively for I Saw The Devil and The Last Stand helmer Kim Jee-Woon whose latest, The Age Of Shadows, is being noted as a worthy Oscar contender. It’s also great first for Warner Bros. as it is their first Korean production, and with a director like Kim now poised for more stellar work to follow, including a live-action adaptation of the hit anime feature, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. Jamie Dornan Takes A Stand In The New Trailer For Richie Smyth's Debut Epic, THE SIEGE OF JADOTVILLE!

Film prospects are clearly in favor of music video and commercial helmer Richie Smyth in the wake of his feature debut. Thus, we are brought The Siege Of Jadotville which lands 50 Shades Of Grey and Anthropoid star Jamie Dornan smack in the middle of a perpetual, imminent battle based on a true story, and the result is just explosive and near-perfect if the trailer is anything to hint from it. THE SIEGE OF JADOTVILLE tells the true story of the 1961 siege of a 150-member Irish U.N. battalion under Commander Patrick Quinlan by 3,000 Congolese troops, led by French and Belgian mercenaries working for mining companies. Jamie Dornan plays the Irish commander Patrick Quinlan while Guillaume Canet plays a French commander Falques. Watch the trailer and make note of its October 7 premiere!

ALIEN NATION Nabs Jeff Nichols To Direct Ahead Of TIFF Premiere

Jeff Nichols’s upcoming civil rights romance drama, Loving, gets its day this weekend at TIFF. Considering the subject matter it tackles, it should be a worthwile feat to precede what the filmmaker now has in tow with news of his latest attachement to direct a remake of the 1988 sci-fi, Alien Nation for 20th Century Fox. The film was announced earlier this year with script coming from Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, reapproaching the tale of a not-too distant future L.A. where humans and aliens tenuously co-exist together, unequal in respective liberties. Therein lies the story of a racist cop who finds himself partnered with an alien cop and are ultimately forced to mitigate their differences in order to solve a case. Its popularity was meager though it managed to get a one-season series and a spate of TV movies, comic books and novels thereafter. Stay tuned! H/T: The Wrap

The rising popularity of the Yokai Watch franchise appears to have done wonders for manga author Konishi Noriyuki. Three years following its proliferation through numerous companies worldwide with the sales of books, toys, games and a successful current two season anime run, two animated feature films have also come into fruition with the 2014 installment, Yo-kai Watch the Movie: The Secret is Created, Nyan!. Helmers Takahashi Shigeharu and Ushiro Shinji directed the film as well as its 2015 follow-up, Yo-kai Watch the Movie 2: King Enma and the 5 Stories, Nyan! and pending third film which premieres in Japan this December. Kim reunites for his fourth outing with actor Jung Woo-Sung, who initially caught my attention many years ago with the 1997 urban youth crime drama, Beat, actor Hwang Jung-Min on the heels of hits like Fists Of Legend, The Wailing and Veteran. There’s no question on my end that the overall screen caliber of actress Kate Beckinsale is something distinctively worth appreciating. The Kevin Grevioux-inspired Underworld franchise has been an enduring one with four movies in, and with our leading making it work every step of the way (sans Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans) as a grand fantasy horror epic with stylish action, slick costuming and a brooding atmosphere to fit the bill. I admit, it took me a few months to get a grip on the fact that The Adventurers and the upcoming reboot of John Woo classic Once A Thief were the same damn movie being directed by Stephen Fung. That said, I can finally sharpen my focus a bit and follow up on the news as it comes, and now with word that filming is currently underway in Prague following the most recent marriage of Fung and the film’s leading lady, actress Shu Qi. THE CROW Officially Casts Jason Momoa To Film In January

Contrary to how some may feel about remaking a film like The Crow, I’m pretty optimistic given the progress that’s finally been made following the past several years of the film’s development at Relativity. Actor Jason Momoa, last reported in August as in talks to star in the film under helmer Corin Hardy, is officially on board the film with an eye to start shooting in January of 2017. The film’s movement, according to The Wrap, is being reported as a treatment attributed directly from the source material instead of a mere reimagining of filmmaker Alex Proyas’s original 1994 adapation of author James O’Barr’s underground graphic novel.
