It looks like things are slowing down a little on the interwebs regarding shortfilms. I’ll do my best to scavenge for these gems as much as possible, though I am looking forward to taking another break (which probably won’t be one anyway since I’ll likely be using it to write ? …the cycle never ends). As for all else, The Hit List is now here and I’ve brought some new stunt, training and performance reels to the fray this week courtesy of Narayan Cabral, Anna Sophia Moad, Camran Bostanabad, Spencer Davis, Robert Steven Brown, Rad Floria, Amelia Skye, Bruce Neri, April Taft, Heather Brooke, Vinny O’Brien, Zhanna Sattsaeva, Gabby Perrera, Craig Henry, Shane Daniels and Jose Vicente Iborra. (*Marques Zaror Archie’s reel appears to have been tentatively removed.) There’s only one item to promote this week and for that, we turn to Nerdbot’s most recent effort, Back In The Shell. […]
The official trailer at the bottom of the page should give you a glimpse into what Mel Gibson now has his hands on according to Mike Fleming Jr.’s exclusive at Deadline. Indeed, he will executive produce and direct a remake of Sam Peckinpah’s 1969 American Western epic, The Wild Bunch, which he will also write with screenwriter Bryan Bagby. The original film penned by Peckinpah and co-scribe Walon Green hit the marquee in its heyday as a controversially violent film. To date, it is considered a stylishly memorable classic among many that not only set the gold standard for much of Hollywood action cinema in the decades that followed, and directors therein. The film now sits at home at American Film Institute among 100 greatest American Films of all time, as well as in the Library of Congress National Film Registry. Receiving two Academy Award nominations, this bitter, brutal story […]

Marvel is far from done with its big screen affairs, having advanced their next phase of the MCU going forward. Adding The Eternals to its roster, Chloe Zhao has been attached to direct. From Variety: Created by Jack Kirby, the story of “The Eternals” is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as the Deviants. The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race. Zhao previously directed Sony Pictures release, The Rider, which became an award-winning feat at Cannes last year. Zhao will direct The Eternals with a script from Matthew and Ryan Firpo who previously penned the script on Justin Kurzel’s upcoming WWII revenge thriller, Ruin, with Margot Robbie and Matthias Schoenaerts starring. She was also reported […]

Director Ben Whimpey and screenwriter and producer John Fallon (The Shelter) have assuredly put the pedal to the metal this year and are staking their claim in actor and martial artist Marc Natoli for 80’s/90’s action nostalgia nod, The Proposal. Previous news arose last July on the matter and now word from Justin Kroll at Variety reveals that Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan, the latest center of Man Of Steel hype, is being tapped to star in the role for origin adaptations, Without Remose and Rainbow Six, with the former up first on the roster. A partial description of the book from Clancy’s official website reads as follows: John Kelly, former Navy SEAL and Vietnam veteran, is still getting over the accidental death of his wife six months before, when he befriends a young woman with a decidedly checkered past. When that past reaches out for her […]

There’s no question that Netflix has been the purveyor of many a game-changing television experience, particularly regarding Marvel series, Daredevil. This show is one of the streaming site’s most crowning achievements having taken the concept from comics to cinema in a fitting format that hasn’t always been easy to package, but always delivers the crux of the spectacle in spades, which is the fights. Undoubtedly, this will be a major centerpiece for fans looking toward its panel presentation when Netflix takes to the crowd at New York City Comic Con on Saturday, October 6. Until then, I actually hasn’t expected there to be a release date announcement so soon and it just so happens that Netflix is defying expectations as of Thursday, signaling an October 19 premiere of the show’s third season. The latest teaser already invites something pretty foreboding when it comes to the show’s protagonist. Having been a […]

I sat and thought from time to time about who should star in a remake of Red Sonja. I’m thoroughly sold on the idea of casting either Rebecca Ferguson or even Jessica Chastain for title. That said, depending on how far things go, I’m slightly confident that Sophie Turner would suit the role given having shared the set prior with X-Men: Apocalypse helmer Bryan Singer. Word from Heat Vision at THR states the beleagured helmer of upcoming Bohemian Rhapsody is being tapped to direct the film for Millenium. The character was originally recreated by Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor with partial inspiration from Robert E. Howard’s own shortstory work from the 1930s. The crux of Red Sonja centers on a young girl from the Western Hyrkanian steppes who trains and sets out to seek revenge for her own rape and the murder of her family. Richard Fleischer’s original 1985 […]
