Writer and director Shankar’s new sci-fi sequel goes beast mode in a trio of posters with a release set for 2019
2018 saw the proud partnership of action directors Art Camacho and Robert Samuels for the production of martial arts action comedy, Made In Chinatown. With the film currently in post-production, we now have our first official poster which you can check out below. The film marks a feature debut for action actor and stunt performer Jay Kwon from a script by Mark V. Wiley. Kwon stars as Vinny, a disaffected Chinese New Yorker who rejects his culture in order to fight his way to the top and become a Made man in the Italian mob. Also starring are Tony Darrow, Vincent Pastore, Tony Ray Rossi and Raymond J. Barry with kung fu cinema legends Lo Meng and Chiu Chi Ling, as well as Peter Ngai, Steven Chan and Paul Sun. Fish-out-of-water spy action comedy, The Rookies, is gearing up for a December 21 release, and with Resident Evil franchise star Milla Jovovich taking point. Culminating the new action adventure tale from director Alan Yuen, The Rookies centers on an elite special agent who finds herself haphazardly aligned with an extreme sports lover, a bumbling cop, a non-professional scientist and an unemployed doctor to help take down a notorious terrorist organization. Production wrapped for The Rookies back in January with locations in China and Hungary and at least one poster has already begun the campaign as of Spring. Heralded Hollywood exec producer Mario Kassar’s recent exploits in Southeast Asia are no longer a visual mystery with the first teaser footage now running for forthcoming sci-fi action thriller, Foxtrot Six. The film marks Randy Korompis’ directorial debut, and it’s a pretty sizeable one for a film of its kind it its own region, backed by a budget of up to ten million (last we heard) and slated to be the first of hopefully several initial Hollywood-style blockbuster Southeast Asia productions in recent memory. It’s been nearly a decade into the filmmaking journey that brought fans the release of tokusatsu cult hit, Gun Caliber. Since then, maverick director Bueno has been hard at work maintaining content for the toku crowd through his independent film portal on YouTube, Garage Hero, while also developing, and just shy of three years ago, rolling cameras for the Gun Caliber sequel, Strega, which, for all intents and purposes will hopefully spur a 2019 release. Fans are less than a month between now and the first week and a half of August between moviegoers in The Philippines and North America awaiting the theatrical release of Erik Matti’s new crime thriller, BuyBust. There are already a plethora of trailers running out and about and so I’m not entirely sure if there will be another going forward. Alas, Well Go USA has its own teaser trailer running as well as its own teaser poster for that matter, but they’ve since upped the ante a bit in the wake of Reality and Viva’s own main artwork now running online ahead of an August 1 release overseas.
