Village, WB Board As Investors For 3D Action Fantasy, ZHONG KUI!

Back in February at the height of the popularity of 3D technology earned from this year’s release of Cheng Pou-Soi’s Winter blockbuster, The Monkey King, that filmimg was reported to begin for the latest action adventure from director Zhao Tianyu titled, Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal. On Sunday in Shanghai, it was officially reported that Village Roadshow Pictures Asia and Warner Bros. Pictures have signed on as co-financiers for the film. Starring Painted Skin actor Chen Kun and Transformers 4 co-star Li BingBing, the film is a mainland production that centers on the titular anti-hero, a young man with mysterious powers charged with capturing wayward spirits and keeping order in the afterlife, battling interdimensional evil between heaven, hell, and the world of the living. The New Trailer For KICK Is 'Too Much Fun'!

Quality is a keyword nowadays with Bollywood action seemingly upping the ante with their films in tremendously epic fashion, with big scale fights, stunts explosions and the usual musical numbers to boot. Such is the case with director Sajid Nadiadwala off the heels of debuting actor Tiger Shroff in last month’s release of romantic action thriller, Heropanti, and now promoting his newest offering, Kick, a remake of the 2009 romantic action thriller of the same name centered on a cat mouse game between a cop and a thrill-seeking professional thief. The new trailer dropped over the weekend ahead of its native holiday release next month on July 25, and stars actor Salman Khan and actress Jacqueline Fernandez.

HIGH KICK ANGELS Flexes New Poster Art And Zombie Action On Opening Weekend!

Stuntman and filmmaker Kazuhiro Yokoyama‘s new film, High Kick Angels, is getting some noticably positive attention from Japan filmgoers and some approving critics online following its Friday release. Of course, time will tell how the film does on a commercial level, and if whether or not there may even be another film in the franchise, and one can only hope as long as those sentiments are shared. With a little more Googling nearly anything is possible, including finding a teaser for a new indie thriller that appears to blend action with heavy elements of drama, romance and tragedy. That thriller is called Beautiful Destroyer from actor, writer, producer and co-director, Christopher Dorrah and co-director Tracy Wren, which follows up as a sequel from Dorrah’s 2012 film, Interludes. It really needs no introduction. However, considering the times we live in and the ever-changing landscape of action fans in this day and age, an extra boost is always good. As such, Sony has a new trailer up for the homecoming of director Gareth Huw Evans‘s newest martial arts crime epic, The Raid 2, for its impending digital release on June 24, followed by the DVD and Blu-Ray release on July 8. The promotional campaign for the latest noir action crime follow-up from co-directors Robert Rodriguez and graphic novelist Frank Miller, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, had a small share of mild controversy in the past few weeks due to the MPAA’s banned poster with actress Eva Green’s right boob; A non-issue if you ask me. There were a lot of mixed reactions upon last year’s release of director Guillermo del Toro‘s most recent robo-juggernaut vs. monster spectacle, Pacific Rim. The film did okay at the box office, but not great, so the chance of a sequel remained a bit blurry thereafter. And yes, they still are, although that hasn’t stopped del Toro from doing his best to put a new script together for the sequel with screenwriter Zak Penn. “I’m working very, very hard with Zak Penn,” del Toro says. “We’ve been working for a few months now in secret.
