Following an earlier report on Friday stemming from several tweets and conceptual art samples, Chinese media forwarded new reports of the new film, now known as Feng Shen Bang. Those updates now have some newly revealed concept images with reports that Ip Man 1 and 2 helmer Wilson Yip will instead be co-directing the film with Koan Hui in what appears to be the latest move toward fashionable big-budgeted 3D blockbuster productions, notably falling in line with the latest success stories, Stephen Chow’s Journey To The West: Conquering The Demons, and this year’s Donnie Yen smash hit, The Monkey King. Based on the 16th century novel Feng Shen Yan Yi (a.k.a. The Investiture Of The Gods) by Xu Zhonglin, Feng Shen Bang […]

EuropaCorp, Fundemental Team Up For Besson's Next, WARRIOR'S GATE

Lee B. Golden III

Things seem to be cooking for a while now for Luc Besson and his production company Europacorp going into 2014 with a few films releasing this year, including Brick Mansions and the August release of Besson‘s newly completed sci-fi action thriller, Lucy, featuring Scarlett Johansson. The company has also been busy formulating its partnership with Mark Gao Jingdong over at Shanghai-based film production and sales company Fundemental Films, with plans to produce and release a batch of new films, notably including the new Transporter trilogy with actor Ed Skrein that was announced in the summer of last year. The subject of such a partnership came up in an article written as recently as nearly two weeks ago in which Clifford Coonan over at The Hollywood Reporter discussed co-production status as a means for overseas film productions to get access to the mainland and make more money without being hindered by […]

Concept Art For Wilson Yip's FENGSHEN YANYI Film Appears Online

Lee B. Golden III

Action legend Jet Li has seen his fair share of career highs and lows; His most recent coming as the result of his current condition in the form of hyperthyroidism which forced the actor to step back from his normal physical routine, a move that also reportedly took a toll on his ability to stay in shape. As a result, while the 50 year old actor’s career has given him plenty of space to relax and breath as he moves up in age, the future seemed a bit foggy as to whether or not fans would ever see Li do another action film, or more films at all. Last year, it was reported that the actor stated to the press that he wouldn’t necessarily be making films for money anymore. In essence, it basically sums up the notion that he would pick certain projects — that was a while before […]

Watch The Riveting New Trailer For BRICK MANSIONS

Lee B. Golden III

Actor Paul Walker‘s tragic death has been a high point of focus for a few of the studios currently responsible for completing and promoting the late actor’s last two films, one of which include the upcoming Parkour action remake, Brick Mansions. Unlike the forthcoming release of Fast And Furious 7, Walker had already completed all of the post-production work he was needed for on Brick Mansions within days before the sudden car crash on November 30, 2013 that claimed his life and that of friend and businessman Roger Rodas. And in the months since, EuropaCorp and Relativity Media made it clear that they would revamp their promotional campaign before it began so that they could promote the film in a way that would honor the actor’s memory. Take that in mind as we now look at the latest second trailer for the film, marking Luc Besson protegè Camille Delamarre‘s directorial […]

THE RAID 2 Bludgeons The Internet With A New Trailer

Lee B. Golden III

IGN hosted a brand new “internet-exclusive” trailer for anyone and everyone waiting to watch The Raid 2 when it comes out starting in limited releases beginning next week on March 28. There’s some new footage in it that you might not have seen yet unless you’ve been to a film festival or two this year, and probably more than you might be willing to see unless you don’t have an issue spoiling yourself just a teeny bit. Hell, I said it before and I’ll say it again: I can’t wait to see this fucking movie already. SYNOPSIS: He thought it was over. After fighting his way out of a building filled with gangsters and madmen – a fight that left the bodies of police and gangsters alike piled in the halls – rookie Jakarta cop Rama (Iko Uwais) thought it was done and he could resume a normal life. The Full Trailer Is Online For AMEERA

Lee B. Golden III

A second trailer has aired for Xu Hong Hui‘s new film Ameera which releases in China on April 4, 2014. We got a teaser a few weeks ago with a plot that sees actress Patricia Hu playing an agent on a desperate mission to foil a terrorist attack after failing her previous assignmemt. Regarding both the teaser and today’s new trailer, while the suggested plot sounds good, there are some goofy looking its in them, including a seeingly mad villain that looks straight out of a Hanna-Barbera cartoon. I don’t know what this says about the film as a whole, but I am eager to learn more. And if there’s anything that pops up, I’ll be sure to share it. Also, The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions actor Collin Chou is in it. So that should help feed the curiousity some.

The Bailey Review: NEED FOR SPEED (2014)

Lee B. Golden III

SYNOPSIS: Fresh from prison, a street racer who was framed by a wealthy business associate joins a cross country race with revenge in mind. His ex-partner, learning of the plan, places a massive bounty on his head as the race begins. REVIEW: What’s one way to save a movie filled with terrible dialogue, poor acting, and a clichéd revenge plot with a less-than-intersting love story? Get Scott Waugh to direct the best stunt racing film ever. Need for Speed is an adaptation of the classic EA Games car racing franchise. In this film, Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul) runs a garage in New York with his uninteresting and slightly annoying buddies, where they build and tune sexy performance cars. The garage was inherited from his father, who dies before the events of the film, but we don’t really care about that relationship anyway. The garage is financially going under, and if they […]

Reel Time: TARA MACKEN (2014)

Lee B. Golden III

Photo Credit: James Lew, editing by @adoubleleye Back in 2012, long before I began acclimating myself in the stunt community via social networking and not yet learning who actress and stuntwoman Tara Macken was at the time, I got the chance to see director Gary Ross’s theatrical adaptation of the YA novel, The Hunger Games. It was a film that I thoroughly enjoyed and one I am glad to have seen as that particular franchise progresses its next three films, with Macken also credited in its latest sequel, Catching Fire. It is also a film I was happy to experience as an unforeseen precursor to starting my site and ultimately meeting Macken online, whose growing body of work can now be seen in her latest action reel now available on her YouTube channel in the embed below. Namely drawing her inspiration from characters such as Angelina Jolie’s lead role in […]
