The New IP MAN: THE FINAL FIGHT Trailer Brings All Smiles

Lee B. Golden III

Beyond Hollywood recently forwarded a new trailer to promote the premiere of Ip Man: The Final Fight at this year’s Hong Kong International Film Festival. The trailer features a more different tone than can be seen in previous trailers, illustrating the latest directorial take on Ip Man’s life and legacy from filmmaker Herman Yau with a little more subtlety and charisma than a grim and dramatic actioner. Sure, the film will definitely have its share of action, no doubt about it. The trailer, though, evokes a sense of openess in its push for an audience. And I have read in previous articles that this upcoming film will be a lot more inclusive with dialogue and acting rather than lots of action. To be conclusive, I would not worry at all. Besides, I do not know about the rest of you, but I like the 1950’s quirkiness of this one. At […]

Lee B. Golden III

JOSHUA KIESER: A Stuntmaster's Legacy

JOSHUA KIESER: A Stuntmaster's Legacy

Lee B. Golden III

About eight years ago or so, as I spent my time browsing online, zombied out while instant messaging with friends, I would always look up trailers and clips of action movies. I began witnessing an emerging of a new subgenre within martial arts cinema. It was the start of an era comprised of many individuals and sports teams throughout the world, harnessing their athletic talents in martial arts, stunts and filmwork to this very day. People I observed, making their own short action movies and gaining their notoriety through viral videos were doing so, starting in their late teens and early/mid 20’s. But as fate would prove it, for me, and possibly many others, dreams are timeless, especially for sixth grader and Colorado native, Joshua Kieser. At just twelve years old, Joshua is already a lifelong athlete, having played soccer when he was around four or five years old, and […]

As was the unfortunate case for the loser in the following stunt action clip featuring UK-based SG Action members Sam Ingram and John Harkins in a duel attributed to the Mortal Kombat video game, directed by SG Action stunt perfomer and choreographer Martin Wan. The clip is a reupload from the stuntteam’s previous Youtube channel to their new one where you can keep tabs on SG Action’s projects, including the upcoming short fan film, Black Cat, directed by Andrew Dobell.
