Eureka Entertainment Signals Two 4K Restoration Jackie Chan Blu-Rays Debuting In UK Next Month For POLICE STORY And POLICE STORY 2

Earlier this month, UK distro outlet Eureka Entertainment made way with several 4K restoration announcements debuting in the region on Blu-Ray in the next few months host to the iconic and legendary work of action maestro Jackie Chan. Two of those titles will come packages together for a specialized release for fans with Police Story and Police Story 2 which now come branded with an official trailer ahead of an August release. Both films will have English and original Cantonese audio tracks which ardent fans of Hong Kong action cinema will easily appreciate. UK distro outlet Eureka Entertainment has it in for Jackie Chan fans with a few ‘Classics’ re-releases pending this Fall. Chan’s zany 1993 lead rendition as a perverted and lazy, albeit highly-skilled crime fighter in Wong Jing’s adaptation of manga hit, City Hunter, is one of them as of announcements made earlier this month. Touchstone Pictures Another headlining rematch is on deck for Wilson Yip’s Ip Man 4 with Jackie Chan apparently set to appear opposite star Donnie Yen. This little detail, by way of a report on Wednesday at Jaynestars cites local news sources, confirms that filming has wrapped for the fourth installment in which Chan will play a respected Chinatown Big Brother amid the story setting that lands our title hero in the U.S. alongside martial arts progeny Bruce Lee. Yen and Chan have shared the screen together a few times in Shanghai Knights (2003) and The Twins Effect 2 (a.k.a. Blade Of Kings) (2004). If Tuesday’s reported Jackie Chan’s venture is any bit as thrilling and edgy as The Foreigner, there’s a good chance it’ll be something to remember. Scott Waugh, rebounding from loose 2014 game adaptation, Need For Speed, is at the helm according to Borys Kit and Mia Galuppo at The Hollywood Reporter for tentatively titled Project X with Chan headlining next to actor John Cena. Production plans and further casting details remain pending for the film which Chan will produce as well as star; He will play a Chinese private security contractor called in to extract oil workers from China-run oil refinery in the Middle East when it is attacked. When I first heard about The Foreigner back in the halcyon days of 2015, I was puzzled as to why anyone would agree to make it; it was a Jackie Chan movie, directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale), also starring Pierce Brosnan (Goldeneye)! This sounded like the worst idea for a movie since a Pacific Rim sequel not directed by Guillermo del Toro. Now, in defense of 2015 me, things weren’t exactly bright and sunny for the three names above. Chan, still trying to hold onto his glory days, was making big budget duds like Chinese Zodiac and Skiptrace. Campbell was nearly 10 years removed from Casino Royale and was also recovering from the recent Green Lantern debacle. I’m about as knowledgeable as the next person on who four-time filmmaker Chang is. There’s at least one other title still on my wish list at current with the 2014 Fred Cavayé remake nod, The Target, while his most recent endeavor, Reset, has taken a foothold in China with a release this summer. The film presents a kinetic sci-fi thriller with a nicely woven story that embraces the sort of usual subliminal and obvious messaging on time travel and the shortspan of human life in the course of everyday tasking and multitasking. The film is, however, slated for a local release from NBC Universal Russia while its biggest appeal come courtesy of its prominent editions, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, along with the promise of grandiose signature martial arts action as teased in previous videos.
