Marvel Moves Forward With THE INHUMANS Movie
Comic book movie news is a trip to keep up with. As of this writing, there are as many as thirty films listed between Marvel and DC from several studios slated to be released by 2020. Some titles still need details, including Marvel’s plans for a Doctor Strange movie, and any hopes of a return for Wesley Snipes in the role of Blade for a new film. But, Marvel isn’t through chipping away at the iceberg of possibilities for its ever-expanding cinematic universe.
In light of actor Vin Diesel‘s latest nudge at a new Marvel property, Collider now brings word that Marvel Studios is officially on track to deliver its next franchise launcher, The Inhumans, just several years after the talks of the film’s development hit the internet. Originally the 1965 brainchild of comic book auteurs Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, The Inhumans story does branch with other comic book franchises throughout its history, but mainly centers on a society of superhumans who were originally test subjects of the Kree alien race thousands of years ago, in an attempt to build an army to defeat the Skrulls in a time of war. This very secret society of superhumans were led by their king, Black Bolt and his royal family Medusa, Karnak, Gorgon, Triton, Crystal, Maximus the Mad and their canine Lockjaw.
The Inhumans has an intricate backstory for each of its characters and their powers, and it will be interesting to see how they tackle this particular production. Writer Joe Robert Cole’s script has been accepted by the studio and a director is now being sought after, making the new film their latest gamble of its kind since Marvel’s box office success, Guardians Of The Galaxy from helmer James Gunn.
Diesel has already gotten his feet wet with Gunn‘s new movie which is now poised for a sequel due for July 28, 2017, while the actor moves forward with director Breck Eisner on The Last Witch Hunter with actress Rose Leslie, and actors Michael Caine and Elijah Wood. As for whether or not Marvel thinks Diesel really IS Imhuman…time will tell.
FAST AND FURIOUS 7 Finishes With A Final Thought
Fast And Furious 7 wrapped up its final shot this week, following a long and arduous, and presumably, an often emotionally challenging process for the cast and crew following the tragic loss of one of its lead actors, Paul Walker, late last year.
Aside from the commercial success of the franchise as a whole, the Fast And Furious saga has also become personal favorite for millions of movie goers who fell in love with the first film over a decade ago under director Rob Cohen. I know it affected me late last year, particularly having absolutely enjoyed the previous films up to Fast And Furious 6, which had the entire room cheering with every heartpounding action sequence and comedic moment it offered. And the teaser footage that was offered on the DVD last year drew even more excitement as filming continued for the next installment.
As tough as I can imagine it was for the production to pull through, it finally has. It is worth point out that the production had to pull a lot of costly resources together to make this film happen, even posthumously with the film to include a digital rendering of Paul‘s face and likeness between certain scenes.
As for how they plan to take on the second and third film of the third Fast And Furious trilogy, those details are a mystery, and we can only hope that those involved will return to the set feeling better, fresher, and whole again. And with what it took to make Fast And Furious 7 possible, I know the fans are as thankful as I am – maybe even more so, and I, for one, look forward to being there on opening day.
On that note, the production took to its official Facebook page to lend its fans a heartfelt message, as follows.
We made it.
Today we completed the last shot in the production of FAST & FURIOUS 7.
We wanted to take this moment to express how thankful we are for your support. We felt the love and strength from our fans throughout this journey, and it’s because of you that we got here.
There was a time when we didn’t know how we could go on, or even if we should. But we listened to you, and you inspired us not only to keep going but to try and make the best FAST & FURIOUS movie yet.
Our FAST family has been together for almost fifteen years now and has grown a lot in that time. From the start, Vin has been our leader who feels what’s right for FAST in his gut and in his heart. When we had to stop production last year, Vin gathered us back together and moved us forward when we needed it most. He led us to this day.
Some of us have been here from the very beginning. Vin, Michelle, Jordana and our producer Neal all go back to that first little movie we shot on the streets of LA. We came back to LA in FAST 7, and it was an especially emotional homecoming for those who’ve grown up with each other since that first shoot.
There are those we count as brothers who we gathered along the way and are with us again: Dwayne, Tyrese, Luda, Lucas and our writer, Chris. We’ve got some new additions this time in Jason, Kurt, Djimon, Nathalie and our director, James. Caleb and Cody joined us to honor their brother and help complete his work.
Our family is big and strong but it won’t ever quite be whole again without Paul.
All of us — those who’ve been here from the start and those whose first FAST film is 7 — wanted to create a special film for him and for you. We believe we have.
Thank you for being there for us. You are the biggest part of our family, and we couldn’t have gotten here without you.
The countdown to April 3 begins.
With love,
Your FAST & FURIOUS Family
FAST AND FURIOUS 7 Will Release One Week Early!
Just in time as action stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Tony Jaa are seen taking photos with director James Wan and the cast and crew of Fast And Furious 7 upon wrapping their scenes, April 3, 2015 is the new date Universal Pictures is announcing for the film’s release. The announcement marks the third change in dates since the film, which also features lead actor Vin Diesel, shifted its original July 11, 2014 date to April 10, 2015 last December, following the off-set accidental death of lead actor Paul Walker last November.
Many of the cast members have already wrapped their scenes, including co-stars Christopher “Ludacris” Bridges and Tyrese Gibson just a few weeks ago. There’s no official word yet on how the film will transition into its new trilogy regarding the script changes that were required since the film’s temporary hiatus in January, although recent months have revealed some coverage pertaining to the addition of one of the brothers of the late actor for additional films in the franchise; Both brothers, Caleb and Cody Walker, stood in earlier this year with two other body doubles to finish Paul‘s scenes for a proper send-off of the iconic character, “Bryan O’Connor”, with post-production to include a digital rendering of Paul’s face and voice.
Aside from movies, Paul Walker was also best known for his acquatic research, as well as philanthropic and charitable work as co-founder of the non-profit organization Reach Out Worldwide back in 2010, engaging in disaster relief efforts around the world. A portion of the proceeds of his film sales go directly to ROWW in honor of his memory.

THE LAST WITCH HUNTER Sets Up Shop In Pennsylvania
Director James Wan is almost complete filming Fast And Furious 7, which may precede with actor Vin Diesel‘s newest adventure with the Summit Entertainment/Lionsgate’s new film, The Last Witch Hunter this summer. Production did take a while to start, however, with the tragic car crash that killed Fast And Furious 7 co-star Paul Walker back in late November during holiday break, which forced both films to be put on hold at the time.
Starring Diesel with more names to be added, The Last Witch Hunter centers on an immortal witch hunter who ironically ends up partnering with a witch to stop the covens of New York City from unleashing a plague on mankind. The production has already begun setting up camp in Allegheny county in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the backdrop for film’s New York City setting, which in turn, also grants the production a $14,088,820 tax credit for the film’s six hundred employees, which amounts the film’s budget somewhere in the ballpark of $56,355,280, based on Pennsylvania’s 25-percent policy.
Diesel himself has expressed his own hopes for the project with a recent post on his Facebook page, calling the script, “amazing”. The actor also discussed the project with Maria Menounos in an interview last year regarding his excitement in line director Breck Eisner’s involvement, stating in part “…his enthusiasm is amazing, you can feel it. It’s definitely on the plus side of things. The next couple of years is really going to be dictated by scheduling. Is it something I’m interested in? Yes. Is it something I’d like to shoot? Yes. Do I like starting a new genre and…making a movie with Lionsgate, I do like what they’ve done with Hunger Games… Twilight… I’m interested in exploring that.” .
Oscar-nomimated Dallas Buyers Club writer Melisa Wallack is working Priest writer Cory Goodman’s screenplay. Summit is accompanied by Lakeshore Entertainment, Mark Canton Productions and Diesel‘s One Race Productions as backers of the project.
Eisner is no longer involved with Karate Kid 2 following previous reports.

Will Cody Walker Get His Own Role In The FAST AND FURIOUS Saga?
From L to R: Cody Walker and Paul Walker
Considering the sensitive tone surrounding the death of actor Paul Walker late last year during Holiday break from filming Fast And Furious 7, I do my best to avoid getting too excited when I hear certain rumors that might come off as appealing and, in some ways, “reportable” news. I love the Fast And Furious franchise and was absolutely gutted when the actor passed away, and was happy to hear that the production was keeping Walker‘s character, former undercover cop-cum-outlaw Brian O’Connor for the home stretch of the film’s shooting schedule.
Of course, the fascinating part of it all was learning how this would be done. And needless to say, the method being used to accomplish this is pretty intricate – shooting scenes up to three times between using Walker‘s brothers, Caleb and Cody, along with other performers doubling in place of Paul, and the aid Peter Jackson’s VFX company, Weta Digital, working the necessary visuals to help keep Paul‘s character long enough to provide a happy ending so the franchise could live on. It’s a lot of work they’re doing for fans who love Paul and love the film saga altogether, and while the cost of the extra work has certainly increased the film’s initial budget, commercially, it shouldn’t be too big an issue. Personally, I think the results on the film’s opening day of April 10, 2015 will speak for themselves.
The big question now, it seems, is how valid are the latest updates regarding Cody Walker. Right now there are various reports from numerous sites forwarding updates from MailOnline’s latest exclusive, citing an “unnamed source” from the set of the film that claims Cody will star in a what’s being described as a “recurring role” for the film.
To be honest, I don’t know what kind of affect this latest report will have on the Fast And Furious franchise, seeing as I’ve never seen Cody act before. He does have a couple of film credits to his name on his IMDb page though, and it could be fun to see a fresh face added to the cast of this beloved franchise. And, considering Cody‘s likeness to his late brother, it should make for an interesting conversation starter as to what kind of character filmgoers can expect.
Make no mistake though, as the reports are also stipulating that Cody is, in no way, a replacement for Paul Walker, whose character will be retiring from the Fast And Furious story. However, it is not yet fully known how the late actor’s on-screen wife, actress Jordana Brewster will be treated between now and future films. Personally, I hope she doesn’t get written off, because I love her character in relation to that of her on-screen brother, played by Vin Diesel.
At any rate, if news about Cody‘s addition to the franchise is true, this will be quite the game changer for all of us on the outside looking in. I imagine it certainly is for the cast and crew as it is. (sigh) …Boy oh boy.
Watch this space for further updates.

Tony Jaa Will Return To Finish His Scenes In FAST AND FURIOUS 7
It was after the tragic death of actor Paul Walker during Thanksgiving break on November 30, 2013 that with the shock and sadness came obvious questions pertaining to the late actor’s last work on Fast And Furious 7 prior to its now-cancelled release date three months from now. Script rewrites became an issue with little known as to whether or not some characters would be written out or changed altogether. “They’re having to rewrite, they’re having to do whatever they’re having to do to deal with the situation,” said actor Kurt Russell quoted in BBC back in January. “It’s catastrophic. It’s the worst thing that could happen to a movie, …but it’s not as bad as what happened to Paul.”.
Such was the issue with international action hero Tony Jaa who had already filmed some scenes with Walker, and fans grew curious to know if the actor would still make his Hollywood debut. And in a new interview with The Action Elite this week, international action star shared a few of his experiences on set with the actor and the cast, as well as some clarifications about his role in the film among other things. “..I had quite a few scenes with Paul Walker. He was a genuinely nice person and his passing was a real shock to me.” Jaa says. “I will be back in June to finish my scenes. As for the story, I will leave that to the people at Universal to tell you about it, but it is going to be quite a film.”.
The Thai star also delved a bit more on the viral video featuring him and the series’ other lead actor and producer Vin Diesel, where they can be seen training together in Muay Thai and other activities last October. “…We worked out together for fun a number of times.” says the actor. “Vin learned some moves, and I can tell you he is a real action hero.”.
Amidst the early stages of the healing process, Diesel announced the film’s new release date in late December last year, followed by confirmed reports that the seventh installment would “retire” Walker‘s character, Brian O’Connor, in a way that would honor the actor’s memory while allowing the franchise to continue in what is expected to be the third trilogy of the Fast And Furious saga. In a heartfelt Facebook post a few weeks ago, the actor, one of Walker‘s longest, best and closest friends since first starring in the first film of the saga, The Fast And The Furious, reflected on his transitive, and “interesting” journey as lead character Dom Torretto, adding “…only this time there is added purpose, a collective goal to make this the best one in the series.”.
The film will return to its set in Atlanta, Georgia to shoot principal action sequences containing “simulated combat, and special effects (explosions and simulated munitions fire)” as per a memo from the crew, along with more scenes to commence filming in Abu Dhabi later on.
Walker‘s final completed film, Brick Mansions, with French action star David Belle will release on April 25, 2014. Meanwhile, as Fast And Furious 7 moves forward on filming with director James Wan, the late actor’s scenes are expected to stay in the film, premiering the actor’s final cinematic reunion with Diesel, Russell and Jaa, in addition to Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Lucas Black and Nathalie Emmanuel for an April 10, 2015 release courtesy of Universal Pictures.
In other news, Jaa is just off of wrapping up principal photography for his new action thriller, Skin Trade with Dolph Lundgren, Michael Jai White and Ron Perlman, which is also expected to release in 2015 as well.
Stay tuned for more info!
