Cameras are set to roll this Spring in New York and New Jersey for dark comedy crime pic, The Kill Room, according to Deadline’s Andreas Wiseman reporting on the addition of actor Joe Manganiello (Archenemy, Zack Snyder’s Justice League) to the cast. The film, first announced in the trades at the start of April, joins the actor with previously-cast Pulp Fiction cohorts Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman. Penned by Jonathan Jacobson with Nicol Paone tapped to direct, The Kill Room charts “the story of a hitman (Manganiello), his boss (Jackson) and an art dealer (Thurman) whose money-laundering scheme accidentally turns the hitman into an overnight avant-garde sensation, forcing Thurman’s character to play the art world against the underworld.” The film will hit the Cannes market in May with producer Yale Entertainment’s sales and distribution banner, Great Escape, handling international sales and co-repping U.S. rights with ICM Partners, according to […]
Patrick Hughes’ The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard may not be rated yet, but that’s likely to change given the violent, off-the-wall action comedy morsels we get to peep in the newest trailer. What’s more is the film is set for June 16 in theaters and IMAX, an opportune moment at that as the CDC lifts restrictions for fully vaccinated moviegoers. The world’s most lethal odd couple – bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) and hitman Darius Kincaid (Samuel L. Jackson) – are back on another life-threatening mission. Still unlicensed and under scrutiny, Bryce is forced into action by Darius’s even more volatile wife, the infamous international con artist Sonia Kincaid (Salma Hayek). As Bryce is driven over the edge by his two most dangerous protectees, the trio get in over their heads in a global plot and soon find that they are all that stand between Europe and a vengeful and powerful […]
It’s been three years since the completion of Todd Robinson’s new military war drama, The Last Full Measure. Casting switcheroos and production length aside, the film finally screened for veterans last October in Westhampton and Roadside Attractions has since taken the mantle to host its release this weekend. The true story of Vietnam War hero William H. Pitsenbarger, a USAF Pararescue medic who saved over sixty men in the U.S. Army’s 1st Infantry Division before making the ultimate sacrifice in one of the bloodiest battles of the war. Thirty-two years later, Pentagon staffer Scott Huffman investigates a decades-long Congressional Medal of Honor request for Pitsenbarger and uncovers a high-level conspiracy prompting him to put his career on the line to seek justice for the fallen airman. Sebastian Stan leads the cast along with Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Plummer, William Hurt, Ed Harris and Jeremy Irvine.
Michael Keaton (American Assassin), Maggie Q (Divergent franchsie), and Samuel L. Jackson (The Hitman’s Bodyguard) will star in The Asset for Millennium Media (The Expendables franchise). Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, The Foreigner) will direct a tale centered on Keaton and Q in the respective roles of Rembrandt and Anna – the world’s two foremost assassins. Their mysterious past reluctantly unites on a mission in Vietnam with Anna bent on finding the killer of her mentor, Moody – to be played by Jackson. Millennium’s Jeffrey Greenstein said, “The Asset is the whole package, and we are excited to bring Richard Wenk’s masterful, muscular script to life with the all-star talent of Michael, Samuel, and Maggie. Having a great director like Martin Campbell at the helm will make all the difference in turning this into a big, stylish, and action-packed thrill ride.” Millennium is on deck with world sales at AFM with […]
Imaginably, I would have thought director Tim Story’s follow-up from John Singleton’s 2000 continuation of the Shaft franchise would be a bit darker than what’s presented in the first official trailer. Usual comedy aside, what we get here seems a bit extra and feels more like a fish-out-of-water crime romp written by someone trying to grow from their previous workdesk at Disney. That’s just me for the time being. Alas, it’s the first sample of what’s now being slated for release in theaters on June 14 from Warner Bros. Samuel L. Jackson and original franchise star Richard Roundtree are joined by Jesse T. Usher whose take on the classic blaxploitation saga aims to put a fair millenial stamp on things while fronting the popular character for a new generation of moviegoers. JJ, aka John Shaft Jr. (Usher), may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to […]
Millenium was already turning the gears at Cannes this past summer for newly announced sequel, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, following Patrick Hughes’ inaugural hit last year starring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. Going forward, production is expected to commence in March with Hughes back in the director’s chair and U.S. release plans now in the hands of Lionsgate according to Scott Roxborough’s update at The Hollywood Reporter. Hughes directed The Hitman’s Bodyguard which centered on a disgraced bodyguard whose troubled past with a hitman sees the two on a raucous journey of survival while a mad dictator – the subject of a war crimes investigation by the Hague – sends for their deaths. The film earned more than $180 million dollars globally while the sequel will also reunite Reynolds and Jackson once more with actress Salma Hayek back in the role of wife to Jackson’s character. Brandon and Phillip […]
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s new MCU adaptaion, CAPTAIN MARVEL, stars Brie Larson and opens next year on March 9!
Lionsgate Things are already stirring at Cannes with deals and announcements readying from now through next week. Millenium is on hand as well and with a revealing photo gone viral in its wake, we now have some context regarding a second title per Alex Ritman’s exclusive at The Hollywood Reporter. A script remains yet to be written whilst both Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are expected to reprise their roles for The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, according to the report which also cites the tagline: “The Good. The Bad. And the Batshit cray.” The film follows last summer’s The Hitman’s Bodyguard from director Patrick Hughes, telling of a disgraced bodyguard whose troubled past with a hitman sees the two on a raucous journey of survival while a mad dictator – the subject of a war crimes investigation by the Hague – sends for their deaths. Millenium’s package also includes director […]
New Line Cinema is still moving forward with Tim Story’s installment of the iconic 1970’s action franchise vehicle, Shaft, and the word now is that its found its star in Independence Day: Resurgence actor Jesse T. Usher. Also of note is the return of star of John Singleton’s 2000 Shaft reboot, actor Samuel L. Jackson, along with that of actor Richard Roundtree who cameoed in the movie. Titled Son Of Shaft, Davis Entertainment’s own John Davis is producing the film along with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris whose script will see Usher as the once estranged son of Jackson’s character, an FBI agent and a cyber expert forced to reluctantly pair up with his father, ensuing a clash between the old school and new school ways of crimefighting. The original film, directed by Gordon Parks and heralded by its popular title track from award-winning recording artist Isaac Hayes, was a phenomenon […]
Lest you fall sleep on The Expendables 3 helmer Patrick Hughes’s latest R-rated affair, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, a brand new trailer has arrived ahead of its August 18 release. The world’s top protection agent [Ryan Reynolds] is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world’s most notorious hitmen [Samuel L. Jackson]. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their raucous and hilarious adventure from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator [Gary Oldman] who is out for blood. Salma Hayek joins the mayhem as Jackson’s equally notorious wife as does actress Elodie Yung to whom our titular bodyguard tries his ill-fated best to redeem himself at the top of this week’s newly […]
In the spirit of keeping the summer movie hype going, director Patrick Hughes’s new action comedy, The Hitman’s Bodyguard is back to boast a little more of its promising thrills apart from its first red-band trailer last month. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live took to its audience late Thursday evening to unveil an exclusive look at the second official trailer ahead of its August 18 release. I don’t think anyone generally knew that the marketing for director Patrick Hughes’s latest action thriller, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, was going to be such a hilarious pisstake. Given the latest official artwork debut however, it appears they’re not kidding. Indeed, we have Samuel L. Jackson holding onto Ryan Reynolds for dear life as the story follows the world’s top protection agent assigned to guard his worst enemy, the world’s deadliest assassin from attempts on his life by a powerful dictator, played by Gary Oldman. Also starring is actress Salma Hayek along with Elodie Yung and others for its August 18 release and while we’ve yet to learn anymore about the film, I think the first NSFW trailer from Wednesday states the film’s case just fine… this one is gonna be too much fun. Peep the ink below!
Patrick Hughes gets it. Sure, The Expendables 3 may have been a measurable misfire, but judging by the first trailer for his latest endeavor, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, you get the feeling you’re on familiar territory and especially after taking in so much of actor Ryan Reynolds through all of the Deadpool fan fervor. It’s a good move. A smart move, and right next to casting Samuel L. Jackson to keep the buddy formula going, the film looks nothing short of the very promise we missed out on three years earlier. Far and away from its origins established in 1933 and echoed years later in Peter Jackson’s own remake, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts delivers his own take on the King Kong mythology with the new film, Kong: Skull Island. The first official trailer surfaced at Comic Con International at San Diego over the weekend and as the first of a reportedly hopeful progression into a franchise that could see our very leading royalty go toe-to-toe with Godzilla, this effort doesn’t seem to disapppoint. In March 2017, the producers of Godzilla transport audiences to the birthplace of one of the most powerful monster myths of all in KONG: SKULL ISLAND, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures. When a scientific expedition to an uncharted island awakens titanic forces of nature, a mission of discovery becomes an explosive war between monster and man. Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Brie Larson, John Goodman and John […]
…And because 2017 wouldn’t be a normal year with just one Vin Diesel movie, director D.J. Caruso is poised to release the long-awaited trilogical installment to the daredevil action franchise, xXx: The Return Of Zander Cage. Bearing in mind, of course, the utter flop that came with the 2005 sequel that followed Rob Cohen’s 2002 original, the film does carry some weight in having to pick up the slack. Well, you do get Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role once more from the earlier two films, as well as a list of beautiful femme fatales played by Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose and Nina Dobrev. What? Not enough? Ohhh k ok, how about we throw in the first time pairing of Donnie Yen and Tony Jaa, along with UFC Middleweight champion Michael Bisping for good measure? Sound neat? Well, all that and more as a reward for our patience can now […]
With the rescue of actor Ryan Reynolds’s career thanks to the heavy-duty success of 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool, the co-star of Ariel Vromen’s Criminal is finally underway with the production of his latest gig in The Hitman’s Bodyguard. Millenium Films made the announcement on Wednesday following news updates building up since late last year with last month revealing Red Hill and The Expendables 3 helmer Patrick Hughes would be sitting in the director’s chair for the film’s production in London. via ComingSoon.net The Hitman’s Bodyguard is an action comedy about the world’s top protection agent (Reynolds) and his new client: a notorious hitman who came in from the cold (Jackson). The only thing standing in their way is everything a murderous Eastern […]
