Netflix unveiled the official trailer for the eight-part first season of The Gentlemen, premiering March 7. The series marks the next chapter for director Guy Ritchie’s crackling 2019 crime flick which now sees him back at the wheel with none other than Theo James leading the charge.
With The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare still in toe among other prospects, director Guy Ritchie is also adding streaming to his 2024 itinerary with the upcoming episodic premiere of The Gentlemen, loosely spinning off his crackling British 2019 crime drama thriller of the same name which starred Matthew McConaughey.
Well, I pretty much have my plans made this weekend and with any luck, that’ll leave me with a few hours alone to enjoy David M. Rosenthal’s new post apocalyptic epic, How It Ends, courtesy of Netflix who’ve now rolled out a final trailer signaling its release on Friday. The film is now available with Theo James leading the cast next to a considerably badass Forest Whitaker who, for all intents and purposes, has pretty much never stopped being a badass. This man was clearly made for action roles and I’m just thankful he’s come into his element accordingly.
Oscar® winner Forest Whitaker (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Arrival, The Last King Of Scotland) has been tapped to join actor Theo James in the new action thriller, How It Ends. A Single Shot and The Perfect Man helmer David M. Rosenthal directing from a script by Brooks McLaren.
James, best known for roles in the Underworld and Divergent franchises, was announced earlier this week in an exclusive at Deadline for the film which tells of young father who will stop at nothing to get home to his pregnant wife on the other side of the country as a mysterious apocalyptic event turns the roads into mayhem. The film was acquired by Netflix as of January and is set to start production in Winnipeg, Canada in July.
Paul Schiff, Tai Duncan, Kelly McCormick, and Patrick Newall and Sierra/Affinity developed the project with Paul Schiff Productions, and is handling worldwide sales and financing of the film. Sierra’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg are executive producing.
Whitaker’s next scheduled theatrical appearance will be Marvel’s Black Panther on February 16, 2018. He is represented by WME and Brillstein.
The third installment of the blockbuster Divergent series franchise, ALLEGIANT takes Tris [Shailene Woodley] and Four [Theo James] into a new world, far more dangerous than ever before.
The action horror genre remains ever more ripe with lycan and vampire fandom for the current four-movie installment of the Underworld franchise which began in 2003, and it was just last August that Lakeshore Entertainment stated they were rebooting the franchise with a fifth film tentatively titled Underworld: Next Generation. At the time, a cast wasn’t in place, but updates have arrived on this end and the franchise is officially going forward with two of its principal cast members.
THR writes that actress Kate Beckinsale is set to reprise her role as vampire warrior ‘Selene’ with the Divergent Series co-star, actor Theo James returning as her ally, David. Cory Goodman wrote the script for Anna Foerster, who directed episodes for Starz series, Outlander, and served as director of photography for the 2004 disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow and 2013 hostage flick, White House Down, to helm with a story that will focus on a younger generation of werewolves and vampires.
The previous four films began as the brainchild of author and creator, franchise co-star and actor Kevin Grevioux, with Beckinsale leading the franchise along with actress Rhona Mitra in the epic story of forbidden love amidst a long and enduring war between royal vampire families and werewolf clans. Actors Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy, and Scott Speedman also played key roles.
The sequel, Underworld: Evolution (2006), the prequelized third, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009) and Evolution’s follow-up, Underworld: Awakening (2012), were modest hits worldwide after the success of the first film, ultimately banking on its worldwide gross of well-over $450 million. Len Wiseman directed the first two films as well as produced all three follow-ups with Gary Lucchesi and Tom Rosenberg, who are also returning to produce the new film with Foerster, while details regarding previously stated plans for a TV series are still pending.
Underworld 5 awaits an official title to confirm while cameras are set to roll in Prague this October.

The tides have begun turning in the epic story of the Divergent Series following the title release of the first film in March earlier this year from director Neil Burger.
Based on the work of best-selling author Veronica Roth, Red director Robert Schwentke has been at the helm since May for the upcoming sequel, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, which follows the dangers that await factionless heroine, Tris, and her love interest, formerly Dauntless’ own Four after fighting their way out of an oppressed post-war society bound by five factions. While promoting her latest film, White Bird In A Blizzard, lead actress Shailene Woodley got a word or two in about what fans action fans and the Divergent audience can expect from the upcoming sequel, telling MTV, “It’s definitely going to have a lot more action, and I think it’s more character-driven in a lot of ways,”.
On Schwentke, Woodley spoke highly of her director’s handling of the production on set, saying, “Robert is definitely an actors’ director,… He was very keen on hearing our opinions about our characters, and collaborating on everything — whether it be the way that she looked, her hair, her makeup, her wardrobe. [We were] collaborating on dialogue, if it felt grounded and truthful. Not only to him, but to me as well.” She also added, “If something felt off-cantor, he would stop production, we would walk away and figure it out and go back, which is something that doesn’t always happen on big movies. I really felt like he was protecting the sacredness of the story, within the world of big-budget film.”
